Takamaz XT-8M

The Takamaz XT-8M is an 8 in collet chucker with a 12-station turret holding 12 live tools, 190 mm (7.5 in) of X and 420 mm (16.5 in) of Z. In its standard form the spindle is rated 11 / 7.5 kW on a Ø100 mm bearing and runs to 3,500 rpm; the live tools turn at 4,000 rpm and are rated to drill Ø20 mm and tap M16.

The spindle is offered in three forms, and the choice shapes the machine more than any other option. The standard is 11 / 7.5 kW with a Ø100 mm bearing at 3,500 rpm. The first option keeps the Ø100 mm bearing and raises the rating to 15 / 11 kW and the speed to 5,000 rpm, the better choice for smaller diameters. The second option fits a Ø120 mm bearing with 15 / 11 kW at 3,000 rpm, trading speed for a larger bearing aimed at heavier, larger-diameter work. Buyers should decide which before ordering, since the three are separate specifications.

With 12 live tools and a Ø20 mm / M16 capacity, the XT-8M can drill and tap most secondary features of a flange or hub in the same chucking. What it cannot do is mill off-centre: the table lists no Y axis. Loader workpieces are listed up to 150 mm in diameter, 50 mm long and 1.5 kg, and the machine occupies 1,750 × 1,535 mm (W × L). Rapids are 18 m/min on X and 24 m/min on Z.

The XT-8 is the turning-only version, with an 8-station turret as standard, 400 mm (15.7 in) of Z and a narrower 1,600 × 1,535 mm footprint. The XT-8MY adds a Y axis of +35/-40 mm with the 15 / 11 kW rating as standard, for parts that need flats and offset holes.
