Takamaz XT-6

The Takamaz XT-6 is a compact single-spindle chucker with a 6 in collet, an 8-station turret, 120 mm (4.7 in) of X and 280 mm (11 in) of Z, and a spindle that runs to 4,500 rpm with a 7.5 / 5.5 kW rating. Its listed loader workpiece is up to 60 mm in diameter, 50 mm long and 1.0 kg, which places it among the small-part production lathes meant to run the same job for weeks.

What distinguishes the XT-6 is how much of it can be specified. The table lists a larger 8 in collet, an 11 / 7.5 kW spindle rating, a Ø85 mm spindle bearing in place of the Ø75 mm standard, a 12-station turret in place of the 8-station one, and spindle speeds of 6,000 or 3,500 rpm in place of 4,500 rpm, all as options. The table does not say which of these options go together, so a buyer should confirm the exact combination with Takamaz. As a rule of thumb, the 6,000 rpm choice suits smaller diameters, and the larger chuck and bearing suit parts nearer the 60 mm limit.

The machine itself is small. It needs 1,360 × 1,370 mm (W × L) of floor, and the narrow width lets several of them stand side by side in a line served by loaders. Rapid traverse is 18 m/min on X and 24 m/min on Z.

The XT-6M on the same base adds a 12-station turret with 6 live tools at 4,000 rpm, able to drill Ø10 mm and tap M6. The XT-6 keeps to turning, and its option list is the wider of the two. For work with even less length, the XTS-6 is narrower at 1,105 × 1,380 mm with 230 mm (9.1 in) of Z.
