Overview

Deep boring of long hollow parts is the job the Johnford ST-130C is best equipped for: 3,050 mm (120.1 in) of Z travel, a 152 mm (6 in) spindle bore and a set of boring options that the accessory list spells out.

There are three of them. A boring bar holder can be mounted on the turret carriage. A completely independent boring bar system can be fitted instead. And the headstock sheet metal can be made with a dented space for boring bar clearance, so that a long bar parked at the headstock end does not foul the enclosure. On a three-metre bed these are what make a long internal cut practical.

The spindle side supports the work. The A2-15 nose carries a 510 mm (20.1 in) chuck, or 610 mm (24 in) as an option, on a 200 mm (7.9 in) bearing. Power is 30 / 37 kW (40.2 / 49.6 hp) through four automatic speeds, with 1,500 rpm from the belt-type gearbox and 1,200 rpm from the geared headstock.

Tailstock travel is 2,750 mm (108.3 in). The machine weighs 20,300 kg (44,660 lb) and is 8,612 mm (339.1 in) long. Swing is 920 mm (36.2 in) over the bed and 700 mm (27.6 in) over the cross slide.
