Overview
The MCG810i is an upper-gantry machining centre with a fixed table: the workpiece stays still on a 1,200 × 1,000 mm (47.2 × 39.4 in) clamping plate while the cross rail, cross slide and ram carry the spindle over it. Travels are 1,000 mm in X, 800 mm in Y and 600 mm in Z. In base form it is a three-axis machine; a two-axis CNC head or a two-axis rotary table, both optional, turn it into a five-axis one.
That layout suits mould work, which is what the maker designed it for. A stationary table means axis dynamics do not change with the weight of the part, and the fixed table is rated at 3,000 kg/m2. Rapid traverse and feedrate are both 40 m/min with 5 m/s2 of acceleration, and the maker points to the rigidity and damping of the structure as the basis for HSC machining. The spindle sits in the ram as an electrospindle. Four units are listed for machines without head change: ISO-40 at 15,000 rpm and HSK-A63 at 18,000 rpm, each 25 / 31 kW and 160 / 200 Nm; HSK-A100 at 14,000 rpm with 25 / 37 kW; and HSK-T100 at 12,000 rpm for turning. The two five-axis routes differ. The head tilts ±115° on A and rotates ±200° on C and leaves the full fixed table free. The rotary table, Ø 600 or Ø 800 mm, tilts ±95° and takes 650 kg at ±15° of tilt; in its turning-milling version it spins at 400 rpm for lathe operations with the HSK-T100 spindle.
A drum-type changer with 30 tools is standard on this model. It weighs 11,500 kg.
