Price estimate
We do not have a price for the SW BA 732 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The SW BA 732 has three spindles, a count most machine builders skip. Three HSK-A100 spindles sit 450 mm (17.7 in) apart, each with 450 mm (17.7 in) of X, 650 mm (25.6 in) of Y and 550 mm (21.7 in) of Z.
Why three? Because some parts are too wide for a four-spindle pitch and waste space at a two-spindle pitch. A part slightly too wide for the 350 mm pitch of the BA 742 has to move up a size, and on the 700 mm pitch of the BA 722 much of the X travel then stands empty. Three spindles at 450 mm turn that same machine width into one more part per cycle.
The spindle is fixed: a 1-10,000 rpm range with 28 kW at 25% ED and 340 Nm at 20% ED per spindle. HSK-A100 with 340 Nm is a heavy-duty specification, suited to cast iron and steel. Three of these in the cut at once put a high combined load on fixture and frame. SW's design answer, per the feature list, is the monoblock.
The machine has two work tables by SW's naming scheme, and the 4th axis clears Ø 775 x 1,600 mm. Tooling has to be bought and preset in sets of three, which is an unusual number for a tool crib used to pairs. SW's table does not say how many tool places the magazine offers per spindle.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Three HSK-A100 spindles at a 450 mm (17.7 in) spindle distance
- 340 Nm at 20% ED and 28 kW at 25% ED on every spindle
- 450 x 650 x 550 mm of travel per spindle
- Two work tables, for loading during the cut
Limitations
- One spindle version only, limited to a 1-10,000 rpm range
- Tools and fixtures come in sets of three
- Interference circle of Ø 775 x 1,600 mm keeps fixtures slim
- No 52 kW or 82 kW spindle as on the BA 722

Frequently Asked Questions
01
It fills the gap between the two-spindle BA 722 at a 700 mm (27.6 in) pitch and the four-spindle BA 742 at a 350 mm (13.8 in) pitch. At 450 mm (17.7 in) per spindle, parts too wide for the BA 742 can still be machined three at a time.
02
Each of the three HSK-A100 spindles has a speed range of 1-10,000 rpm, 28 kW at 25% ED and 340 Nm at 20% ED. SW's table lists no alternative spindle for this model.
03
450 mm (17.7 in) in X, 650 mm (25.6 in) in Y and 550 mm (21.7 in) in Z for each spindle. The interference circle of the 4th axis is Ø 775 x 1,600 mm.
04
SW claims the highest energy efficiency for the BA 7 series, with 50% less energy used per part than single-spindle machining. The claim is made for the series as a whole and is not broken down by spindle count in the table.
