Price estimate
We do not have a price for the SW BA 722 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The SW BA 722 is the two-spindle, two-table machine of the BA 7 line, and the only model in it with three spindle versions. The spindles are HSK-A100, set 700 mm (27.6 in) apart, with 650 mm (25.6 in) of X and Y and 550 mm (21.7 in) of Z each.
Two of the versions resemble those of the single-table models: 42 kW at 25% ED with 400 Nm at 20% ED, here with a 10,500 rpm range, and 52 kW with 615 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The third is different in kind. It has a 15,000 rpm range and 82 kW at 40% ED, with 320 Nm at 20% ED.
82 kW per spindle is a great deal of power for an HSK-A100 machine, and at 40% ED it is rated for a longer share of the cycle than the others. That spindle is for high-volume metal removal in aluminium: large structural castings and blocks where big-diameter cutters run fast.
The second table brings loading in parallel to machining time. It also brings a smaller swing than the single-table BA 721 has: the 4th axis clears Ø 775 x 1,600 mm. Parts for the BA 722 are therefore big but not bulky, clamped on a slim bridge between the two carrier ends. Steering knuckles and truck brake calipers from SW's part list fit that description well.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Third spindle version with 82 kW at 40% ED and a 15,000 rpm range
- Two work tables for loading in parallel to machining time
- 615 Nm at 20% ED per spindle with the 6,000 rpm version
- Two HSK-A100 spindles with 650 mm (25.6 in) of X and Y each
Limitations
- Interference circle of Ø 775 x 1,600 mm, well under the Ø 1,300 x 1,630 mm of the BA 721
- The 82 kW spindle offers 320 Nm, less torque than the other two versions
- Z travel is 550 mm (21.7 in)
- Each spindle version trades speed against torque; no single one covers both ends

Frequently Asked Questions
01
It combines a 1-15,000 rpm speed range with 82 kW at 40% ED and 320 Nm at 20% ED per spindle. SW lists it only for the BA 722. The other two versions give 42 kW with 400 Nm up to 10,500 rpm, or 52 kW with 615 Nm up to 6,000 rpm.
02
Two, per SW's naming scheme, in which the last digit is the number of work tables. SW's BA 7 feature list names loading and unloading in parallel to machining time and says single-table and dual-table machines are available.
03
Each spindle covers 650 mm (25.6 in) in X, 650 mm (25.6 in) in Y and 550 mm (21.7 in) in Z, at a spindle distance of 700 mm (27.6 in). The fixture with its parts must rotate inside Ø 775 x 1,600 mm.
