How much does the Niigata HN80E cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Niigata HN80E that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Niigata HN80E is an 800 mm pallet horizontal machining center whose standard spindle produces 1,948 N·m (1,437 lb-ft). Niigata calls it the latest model in the HN series, a line it traces back to a column traverse horizontal it developed in 1974. Travels are 1,530 mm (60.2 in) in X, 1,230 mm (48.4 in) in Y and 1,020 mm (40.2 in) in Z, the pallet carries 2,500 kg (5,511 lb), and the workpiece can be φ1,750 mm × 1,400 mm.
That torque comes from a geared head. The spindle has a 4-speed transmission, two mechanical gears combined with two motor windings, and a maximum motor output of 30 kW. Cylindrical roller bearings are standard. Top speed is 6,000 min-1 with a BT50 shank. For lighter work Niigata offers a direct-drive high-speed spindle of 15,000 min-1 as an option, but the machine is plainly specified around the geared spindle.
The structure matches. A thick, bell-shaped column, which Niigata names the Monster Column, stands on a heavy base. The square slideways are induction hardened and ground, their counterparts are hand-scraped, and the column slides on replaceable pads. Double wipers are standard on the sliding surfaces. Even so the axes rapid at 40 m/min, faster than the 30 m/min of the smaller HN63E.
Operator details get more attention than on older HN models: a 15-inch touch panel, a control panel that rotates to follow the operator, and a work area laid out for loading large parts by crane. The magazine holds 62 tools, expandable in chain form to 255 or in matrix form to 230.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 1,948 N·m (1,437 lb-ft) standard spindle with a 4-speed transmission and cylindrical roller bearings
- 40 m/min rapids on all axes with hardened and hand-scraped box slideways
- 2,500 kg (5,511 lb) pallet load and a φ1,750 mm × 1,400 mm workpiece
- 15-inch touch panel and a rotary control panel
- Double wipers on the sliding surfaces as standard
Limitations
- Standard spindle speed is 6,000 min-1; 15,000 min-1 needs the optional direct-drive spindle
- Z travel of 1,020 mm is shorter than the 1,220 mm of the HPN800, which shares the pallet size
- 1° pallet indexing is standard and 0.001° is an option

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Through a geared spindle head. Niigata describes a 4-speed transmission made up of 2 mechanical gears and 2 motor windings, with a maximum motor output of 30 kW and a maximum spindle torque of 1,948 N·m. Cylindrical roller bearings are fitted as standard for heavy cutting.
02
The pallet is 800 mm × 800 mm and takes 2,500 kg (5,511 lb). The maximum workpiece is φ1,750 mm in swing and 1,400 mm high. Axis travels are 1,530 mm, 1,230 mm and 1,020 mm in X, Y and Z.
03
Yes, as an option. Niigata lists a 15,000 min-1 high-speed spindle with a direct-drive spindle motor. The standard spindle runs to 6,000 min-1 and is the one that carries the 1,948 N·m torque rating.
04
Travels, pallet, load and spindle torque are the same. The difference is the guideway. The HN80E uses Niigata's square slides and rapids at 40 m/min. The HN800-V uses a V-slide system intended to hold positioning accuracy across the whole stroke, and rapids at 50 m/min.
