Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Niigata HN80E-FC that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Niigata HN80E-FC is a facing center: a horizontal machining center with two tools-in-one at the spindle head. A sliding faceplate, the U axis, does turning-type cuts. Through its centre runs a φ130 feeding spindle, the W axis, which extends 300 mm (11.8 in) for milling, drilling and boring. On an 800 mm × 800 mm pallet carrying 2,500 kg (5,511 lb), the machine can face, groove, taper, bore, mill and drill a part without moving it to another machine.
The W-axis spindle takes BT50 tools, runs to 2,500 min-1 and is rated at 659.5 N·m (486 lb-ft) with an AC 26/22 kW motor. The faceplate takes a separate NT50 short-taper tool and has 130 mm (5.1 in) of U travel. Niigata's twin U spindle option extends that to 230 mm, enough to cover large and small diameters with one tool type and to bring the tool to centre for deep holes.
The base machine is the HN80E, and X and Z keep its travels of 1,530 mm and 1,020 mm and its φ1,750 mm × 1,400 mm workpiece. Y is given as 900 mm (35.4 in), a figure the table ties to the twin U spindle. Rapid rates are set per axis: 40 m/min in X, 25 m/min in Z, 15 m/min in Y and 5 m/min for W and U. This is the fastest of the three FC models in X and Z.
Niigata names fluid ends and axle housings as typical parts. Both have deep bores with faces, grooves and threads at the bottom, which is where a faceplate with a feed-out spindle earns its place. The magazine holds 62 tools, with 88, 128, 175 and 255 as options.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Facing head (U axis) and feed-out spindle (W axis) on one machine
- 300 mm (11.8 in) of W-axis extension on a φ130 spindle
- 130 mm (5.1 in) U travel, 230 mm (9.1 in) with the twin U spindle option
- 2,500 kg (5,511 lb) load and φ1,750 mm × 1,400 mm workpiece
- 40 m/min X rapid, the highest of the HN-FC models
Limitations
- Spindle speed is 2,500 min-1 and torque 659.5 N·m, far below the 1,948 N·m of the plain HN80E
- Y travel is 900 mm against 1,230 mm on the HN80E
- Two tool systems to manage: BT50 on the W axis and NT50 short taper on the U axis
- Y rapid traverse is only 15 m/min

Frequently Asked Questions
01
A horizontal machining center equipped with both a sliding faceplate for turning (U axis) and a feeding spindle for machining (W axis). Niigata says it can perform facing, grooving, taper, boring, milling and drilling continuously and automatically.
02
The W-axis spindle has a φ130 diameter, a BT50 shank, a maximum speed of 2,500 min-1 and a maximum torque of 659.5 N·m (486 lb-ft). The main motor is AC 26/22 kW on a 30 minutes/continuous rating. The U axis uses an NT50 short taper shank.
03
It lengthens U-axis travel from 130 mm to 230 mm and lets the U axis move to centre. Niigata says this allows machining from large to small diameters with a single type of tool, and deep-hole work with a nearly straight tool. The table lists a U rapid of 4 m/min for the option against 5 m/min as standard.
04
The maximum workpiece is φ1,750 mm × 1,400 mm on an 800 mm × 800 mm pallet with 2,500 kg (5,511 lb) of evenly distributed load. Travels are 1,530 mm in X, 900 mm in Y and 1,020 mm in Z.
