Price estimate
We do not have a price for the SW BA W06-42 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The SW BA W06-42 carries four HSK-A63 spindles at a spindle distance of 300 mm (11.8 in). It is the highest-output model of the BA W06 line: four parts per cycle, two work tables, linear drives.
Each spindle covers 300 mm (11.8 in) of X, 600 mm (23.6 in) of Y and 500 mm (19.7 in) of Z, and runs through 1-17,500 rpm with 32 kW and 72 Nm. The Y travel is generous for the pitch. Parts can be tall and narrow, or several small parts can be stacked along Y in front of each spindle.
SW's claim for the series, the fastest machining center of its kind, carries most weight here. Four spindles multiply every saved tenth of a second by four. On an ABS valve housing, a part SW names for the series, the cycle is a long chain of short positioning moves and tool changes, and that is where linear motors earn their keep.
The 4th-axis interference circle is Ø 675 x 1,430 mm, shared with the two- and three-spindle models. Independent Z and X axes are on the feature list, and with four parts in the cut they do real work in keeping depths and positions right on each one. Budget for four of every tool, and ask SW how many magazine places that leaves.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Four, one per spindle, at a 300 mm (11.8 in) pitch. With two work tables the next four are loaded during the cut.
02
Each of the four HSK-A63 spindles has a 1-17,500 rpm speed range with 32 kW and 72 Nm. That is slightly below the 35 kW and 80 Nm of the HSK-A63 spindle on the BA W06-22.
03
300 mm (11.8 in) in X, 600 mm (23.6 in) in Y and 500 mm (19.7 in) in Z. The fixture rotates inside a 4th-axis interference circle of Ø 675 x 1,430 mm.
04
Both have four spindles at a 300 mm (11.8 in) pitch with 600 mm (23.6 in) of Y and 500 mm (19.7 in) of Z. The BA W06-42 has linear drives and a 17,500 rpm HSK-A63 spindle with 72 Nm. The BA 642 offers spindles up to 200 Nm, including an HSK-A80 version.
