How much does the SW BA 312 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the SW BA 312 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The SW BA 312 keeps the single HSK-A63 spindle of the BA 3 series and adds a second work table. In SW's naming scheme the 1 is the number of spindles and the 2 the number of work tables, so this is the model for shops that want to load during the cut but do not make parts in pairs.
X travel is 550 mm (21.7 in), Y is 450 mm (17.7 in) and Z is 375 mm (14.8 in). The single-table BA 311 has 500 mm (19.7 in) of Y, and against the BA 311 the 4th-axis interference circle shrinks from Ø 575 x 830 mm to Ø 475 x 830 mm. That is the room the second table takes.
SW's portfolio text explains what the buyer gets back: a double swivel carrier for loading and unloading during machining, which reduces unproductive downtime. On short cycles the part change can cost as much time as the cut. Here it happens while the spindle works on the other table.
The spindle delivers 32 kW and 72 Nm over 1-10,000 rpm, with 1-17,500 rpm as an option. The table stops there. Tool magazine capacity, rapid traverse and control are not listed on the BA 3 page.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Two work tables on a single-spindle machine, for loading and unloading in parallel to machining time
- 550 mm (21.7 in) of X travel for one HSK-A63 spindle
- 32 kW and 72 Nm, with a 1-17,500 rpm speed range available as an option
- Same series and operation as the twin- and four-spindle BA 3 models
Limitations
- The 4th-axis interference circle is Ø 475 x 830 mm, smaller than the Ø 575 x 830 mm of the BA 311
- Y travel is 450 mm (17.7 in)
- One part per cycle, where the BA 322 finishes two in the same footprint class
- No magazine or feed-rate data in SW's table

Frequently Asked Questions
01
For the second work table. The spindle keeps cutting on one table while the other is unloaded and reloaded. You give up some room for it: Y travel is 450 mm (17.7 in) and the interference circle is Ø 475 x 830 mm, where the BA 311 offers 500 mm (19.7 in) and Ø 575 x 830 mm.
02
32 kW and 72 Nm on an HSK-A63 interface. The speed range is 1-10,000 rpm as standard, and SW marks 1-17,500 rpm as optional. These are the same figures SW lists for the BA 311, BA 321 and BA 322.
03
Both have two work tables and the same Y and Z travel. The BA 322 has two spindles 300 mm (11.8 in) apart with 300 mm of X each, and so makes two parts per cycle. The BA 312 has one spindle with 550 mm (21.7 in) of X, which suits wider parts or work that does not run in pairs.
04
Fixture and part must rotate inside the 4th-axis interference circle of Ø 475 x 830 mm and be reachable within 550 mm (21.7 in) of X, 450 mm (17.7 in) of Y and 375 mm (14.8 in) of Z. The second figure of the circle is its length along the rotary axis.
