Price estimate
We do not have a price for the SW BA W08-12 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The SW BA W08-12 is the two-table version of SW's large single-spindle linear machine. It keeps 1,500 mm (59.1 in) of X and trades swing and Y travel for the ability to load during the cut.
The numbers show the trade. Y is 900 mm (35.4 in) for all three spindle interfaces, Z is 650 mm (25.6 in), and the 4th-axis interference circle is Ø 950 x 1,830 mm. The single-table BA W08-11 swings Ø 1,650 x 1,830 mm. Parts for this model are long and fairly flat on their fixture, such as battery tray sections, long housings or structural members.
One spindle serves both tables in turn. HSK-A63 gives a 1-17,500 rpm range with 35 kW and 80 Nm. HSK-A80 or HSK-A100 gives 1-12,500 rpm with 42 kW and 200 Nm. Unlike on the single-table models, the Y figure in SW's table does not change with the interface.
When does a second table pay on a one-spindle machine? When loading takes long. Large parts are slow to clamp, with many clamping points and often manual checks. On a single-table machine the spindle stands still for all of it. Here the spindle works on one part while the other is set up outside the work area, which SW lists as loading and unloading in parallel to machining time.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Two work tables on a machine with 1,500 mm (59.1 in) of X
- 900 mm (35.4 in) of Y with every spindle interface
- HSK-A63 at 17,500 rpm, or HSK-A80 or HSK-A100 with 42 kW and 200 Nm
- Loading and unloading in parallel to machining time
Limitations
- Interference circle of Ø 950 x 1,830 mm, far smaller than the Ø 1,650 x 1,830 mm of the BA W08-11
- Y is shorter than the 1,025 mm (40.4 in) the BA W08-11 offers with HSK-A63
- One spindle: one part per cycle
- No carrier load or magazine capacity in SW's table

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Swing and some Y. The interference circle is Ø 950 x 1,830 mm against Ø 1,650 x 1,830 mm on the BA W08-11, and Y is 900 mm (35.4 in) against up to 1,025 mm (40.4 in) on the BA W08-11. X stays at 1,500 mm (59.1 in).
02
1,500 mm (59.1 in) in X, 900 mm (35.4 in) in Y and 650 mm (25.6 in) in Z. The Y figure is the same for the HSK-A63, HSK-A80 and HSK-A100 spindles.
03
HSK-A63 with a 1-17,500 rpm range, 35 kW and 80 Nm; or HSK-A80 or HSK-A100 with a 1-12,500 rpm range, 42 kW and 200 Nm.
04
Both are single-spindle, two-table linear machines. The BA W06-12 has 1,150 mm (45.3 in) of X, 630 mm (24.8 in) of Y and 510 mm (20.1 in) of Z. The BA W08-12 is the next size up at 1,500 mm (59.1 in), 900 mm (35.4 in) and 650 mm (25.6 in).
