How much does the SHW UniForce 4000 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the SHW UniForce 4000 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The SHW UniForce 4000 is the heavy-cutting travelling column machine in SHW's range. Its brochure column lists a main drive of up to 100 kW (134.1 hp) with a speed range of up to 5,000 rpm, and SHW calls the machine an expert in heavy-duty machining, regardless of whether small or large workpieces are involved.
Maximum travels are 40,000 mm (1,574.8 in) in X, 4,100 mm (161.4 in) in Y (vertical) and 1,600 mm (63.0 in) in Z (horizontal cross). Those are the PowerSpeed 4000's numbers too. What differs is how the two machines use the envelope. The PowerSpeed 4000 accelerates at 3.5 m/s² and offers spindle speeds up to 8,000/24,000 rpm. The UniForce 4000 is listed with 2 m/s² and with feeds and rapids up to 36,000 mm/min (1,417 ipm), and its drive row has no motor-spindle figure at all.
A ceiling of 5,000 rpm says what the machine is for. Large face mills, boring tools and long-reach cutters run well below that speed and need the power. Small finishing tools don't get the surface speed they want.
The standard head is the universal milling head in orthogonal design, with 180° on the A axis and 360° on the C axis; fork, horizontal, angle and special milling heads are options. Tool holders are SK 50 BIG-PLUS or HSK 100 A DIN 69893. SHW lists four versions (milling machine, turn-mill machine, head-changing machine and double-column machine) and Heidenhain or Siemens controls. For taller work the UniForce 7000 takes Y to 7,100 mm (279.5 in).

Limitations
- The speed range ends at up to 5,000 rpm; the PowerSpeed 4000 is listed with up to 8,000/24,000 rpm
- Acceleration is 2 m/s², against 3.5 m/s² on the PowerSpeed 4000
- No pallet-changing machine among the listed versions, unlike the PowerSpeed 4000
- Torque, the figure that matters most for heavy cutting, is not published

Frequently Asked Questions
01
SHW's brochure lists the main drive at up to 100 kW (134.1 hp) with a speed range of up to 5,000 rpm. It gives no torque figure and no gear-stage data, so request the torque curve for the head you need before comparing machines.
02
They are 40,000 mm (1,574.8 in) in X (horizontal longitudinal), 4,100 mm (161.4 in) in Y (vertical) and 1,600 mm (63.0 in) in Z (horizontal cross). The brochure labels these as maximum values; the length of an individual machine is set to the order.
03
The drive, speed, feed and acceleration rows are identical in SHW's brochure. The UniForce 7000 is the taller machine, listed with 7,100 mm (279.5 in) in Y and 1,800 mm (70.9 in) in Z, against 4,100 mm (161.4 in) and 1,600 mm (63.0 in) on the UniForce 4000.
04
A head-changing machine is one of the four versions SHW lists, next to the milling machine, the turn-mill machine and the double-column machine. The head options are universal, fork, horizontal, angle and special milling heads. Tool handling options include a tool changer, a tool magazine, a tool loading station and a tool pick-up.
05
Heidenhain and Siemens. SHW's brochure and product page list both makers without naming a control model for the UniForce 4000, so the control generation is settled in the quotation.
