How much does the SHW UniSpeed 2500 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the SHW UniSpeed 2500 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The SHW UniSpeed 2500 is a compact machining center built around a universal milling head in orthogonal design instead of a fixed spindle. SHW's brochure gives maximum travels of 2,500 mm (98.4 in) in X, 1,300 mm (51.2 in) in Y and 1,300 mm (51.2 in) in Z. Mind the axis naming: Y is the vertical axis here and Z the horizontal cross axis.
The head is what lets the machine reach several sides of a part in one clamping. Its standard swivel ranges are 180° on the A axis and 360° on the C axis, and SHW says the standard version offers up to 64,800 programmable head positions, with infinitely variable axes available as an option. In other words the standard head indexes to an angle and cuts there. Contouring with the head in motion is a matter for the optional version or for a fork milling head, which SHW also lists.
Drive figures come as pairs. The brochure's row for main drive/motor spindle reads up to 44/70 kW (59.0/93.9 hp) and up to 8,000/24,000 rpm, so the power and speed you get depend on the spindle unit ordered. Tool holders are SK50 BIG-PLUS or HSK 100 A DIN 69893. Feeds and rapid traverse reach up to 30,000 mm/min (1,181 ipm) on all three linear axes, with an acceleration of 2 m/s².
SHW builds it as a milling machine, a turn-mill machine or a pallet-changing machine. The product page singles out the T-variant, with turning function and rotary table, for one-off and small batch production, and the ToolRunner tool changer, which SHW describes as newly designed to cut tool change times. Controls are Siemens or Heidenhain. On the brochure's figures the UniSpeed 3500 is the same machine with 3,500 mm (137.8 in) of X travel, so the choice between the two comes down to part length.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Universal milling head in orthogonal design with standard swivel ranges of 180° on the A axis and 360° on the C axis
- Up to 64,800 programmable head positions on the standard head, per SHW's series description
- Feeds and rapid traverse up to 30,000 mm/min (1,181 ipm) in X, Y and Z
- Offered as a milling machine, a turn-mill machine or a pallet-changing machine
- Tool holder is a choice of SK50 BIG-PLUS or HSK 100 A DIN 69893
Limitations
- Y and Z travels are 1,300 mm (51.2 in) each, the same as on the UniSpeed 3500, so only X grows with the larger model
- The brochure prints power and speed as upper limits only, up to 44/70 kW (59.0/93.9 hp) and up to 8,000/24,000 rpm; torque is not stated
- Infinitely variable head axes are an option; the standard head works in indexed positions
- SHW publishes no table size, table load, tool capacity or machine weight for this model

Frequently Asked Questions
01
SHW's brochure lists maximum travels of 2,500 mm (98.4 in) in X (horizontal longitudinal), 1,300 mm (51.2 in) in Y (vertical) and 1,300 mm (51.2 in) in Z (horizontal cross). Feeds and rapid traverse run up to 30,000 mm/min (1,181 ipm) with 2 m/s² acceleration.
02
The brochure gives the main drive/motor spindle row as up to 44/70 kW (59.0/93.9 hp) and up to 8,000/24,000 rpm. It does not print a torque figure or say which combination is standard, so ask SHW for the power and speed curve of the head you intend to order. The tool holder is SK50 BIG-PLUS or HSK 100 A DIN 69893.
03
Yes, as a variant. SHW lists the machine as a milling machine, a turn-mill machine and a pallet-changing machine, and describes a T-variant with a turning function and a rotary table that it recommends for one-off and small batch production. Rotary tables, turntables and a pallet changer appear in the workpiece handling options.
04
The standard head is SHW's universal milling head in orthogonal design, with swivel ranges of 180° on the A axis and 360° on the C axis. SHW states up to 64,800 programmable head positions for the standard version and offers a version with infinitely variable axes as an option. Fork milling heads are also listed.
05
SHW lists Siemens and Heidenhain controls for the UniSpeed 2500. Neither the product page nor the brochure names a control model for this machine, so the generation and option level are part of the quotation.
