Emco Ecomill — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Emco Ecomill that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Emco or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

In the middle of Emco's travelling-column line sits the Ecomill, a 3+2 axis machine with a horizontal ram. Its column travels 4000 - 14000 mm along the bed, the ram extends 1,300 mm (51.2 in) and the vertical axis comes in two heights, 2000 / 2500 mm.

Emco builds the column as a symmetric structure for stiffness and guides the ram box-in-box. The basic machine includes a chip conveyor. A single spindle motor is listed, 60 kW, 600 Nm, and it drives a universal milling head rated 38 / 48 kW (S1/S6) and 600 / 750 Nm (S1/S6) over 15 ÷ 8000 rpm. Automatic millesimal positioning means the head indexes in very fine steps to any angle and is then clamped for the cut, which is how a 3+2 machine reaches inclined faces.

Finishing gets a different answer here than on the Ecomill Plus. Instead of a separate high-speed head, the Ecomill takes a high-speed spindle in a special support on the universal head: 40.5 / 53 kW, 35.4 / 46 Nm (S1 / S6), 18000 rpm, HSK-A63. It is a light spindle, suitable for small cutters in mould cavities, and it leaves the mechanical head in place for everything else.

The tool magazine is listed with 40 / 60 / 80 pockets, and the product page mentions a tower changer of up to 203 pockets as the larger alternative. Feed is 30 m/min (1,181 ipm). Through-spindle coolant is 20 l/min, 20/40/60 bar. The control is a Heidenhain or a Siemens.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Bed lengths from 4000 to 14000 mm of longitudinal travel
  • Universal head with 600 / 750 Nm (S1/S6) over 15 ÷ 8000 rpm
  • High-speed spindle in special support: 18,000 rpm
  • Symmetric column and box-in-box ram
  • Chip conveyor included in the basic machine

Limitations

  • Cross travel of 1,300 mm (51.2 in)
  • No automatic head magazine is listed, unlike the Ecomill Plus
  • Only the 60 kW, 600 Nm spindle motor appears in the brochure table
  • The high-speed spindle has 40.5 / 53 kW, 35.4 / 46 Nm (S1 / S6), 18000 rpm, HSK-A63, which restricts it to light finishing

Best For

Long and tall parts machined from the side on a floor plate General heavy milling in 3+2 axes Construction-machinery and frame components Mould bases needing occasional high-speed finishing

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What are the travels of the Ecomill?

The longitudinal axis travels 4000 - 14000 mm, the cross axis 1,300 mm (51.2 in) and the vertical axis 2000 / 2500 mm. All move at a feed rate of 30 m/min (1,181 ipm).

02 What is the main milling head?

A universal milling head with automatic millesimal positioning, rated 38 / 48 kW (S1/S6) and 600 / 750 Nm (S1/S6) at 15 ÷ 8000 rpm. The standard taper is listed as ISO 50 DIN 69871 (options: BIG PLUS, HSK-A100 DIN 69893).

03 Can the Ecomill do high-speed finishing?

Yes, through a high-speed spindle in a special support for the universal milling head. The brochure lists it as 40.5 / 53 kW, 35.4 / 46 Nm (S1 / S6), 18000 rpm, HSK-A63.

04 How does the Ecomill differ from the Ecomill S?

The Ecomill S is listed with a vertical travel of 2,000 mm (78.7 in), a tool magazine of 40 / 60 pockets and a head speed of 15 ÷ 6000 rpm. The Ecomill offers 2000 / 2500 mm vertically, 40 / 60 / 80 pockets and 15 ÷ 8000 rpm.
