Overview
The SCM Accord 40 FXM is a mobile-gantry machining center on a flat aluminium multi-function worktable, with a 5-axis electrospindle of up to 17 kW (22.8 hp) and X-Y axis speeds of 90 m/min. It comes in six working areas from 3650x1600x350 mm to 6170x2120x350 mm.
What sets it apart is the BRC working unit. BRC stands for boring, routing and cutting, and SCM states that the unit does all three vertically and horizontally without a tool change. It has its own Z axis and its own inverter, so secondary operations such as hinge borings, grooves and small cut-outs run without interrupting the main spindle's tooling.
Beside the 5-axis spindle the table lists a 3- or 4-axis electrospindle of up to 15 kW (20.1 hp), with 24000 rpm as the maximum for both. The drilling unit takes up to 30 vertical and horizontal spindles at 8000 rpm. Tool storage is generous: 12 positions on the machining head, 48 positions at the rear and 12 positions at the side.
Z is 350 mm (13.8 in) and moves at 30 m/min, as the 90-90-30 m/min row shows. Parts that need more height are the territory of the Accord 50 FXM, whose working areas run to 6170x2120x500 mm.
