Overview
The SCM Accord 500 Edge adds an edge banding unit to a bar-table routing and drilling center, so a shaped panel can be cut, drilled and edged without leaving the machine. The H80C "Compact" unit applies edges from 16 to 85 mm high and from 0.4 to 3 mm thick, and SCM describes it as suited to panels up to 80 mm thick. Up to 5 edge materials can be held in the edge storage.
Nine working areas are listed, more than on any other Accord page here, because a third Y depth of 2,250 mm (88.6 in) joins the 1,600 mm (63.0 in) and 1,900 mm (74.8 in) options. The largest is 6715 x 2250 x 300 mm. Curved parts need room around them for the edging unit to travel, and the extra depth provides it.
Routing is handled by a 5-axis electrospindle of up to 17 kW (23 hp) or a 3- or 4-axis electrospindle of up to 21 kW (28.5 hp), both at a maximum of 24000 rpm. Three tool changers appear in the table: TRB side with 11 positions, CADDY side with 35 positions and a VELOCE on-board circular changer with 12 positions. The drilling unit has up to 31 independent vertical and horizontal spindles.
SCM states that the pressure system changes over automatically, which lets the machine switch the edge application technology from one process to the next. Four worktables are offered: Flex, Flexdrive, Flexmatic Pro and Matic, the last with fully automated positioning of the suction pods.
