Hendrick HHD-R Series — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Hendrick HHD-R Series that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Hendrick or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Hendrick HHD-R Series is the heavy-duty line among Hendrick 3-axis CNC routers, and the one that can be built with two spindles. Standard tables are 8 ft x 4 ft (2,500 x 1,230 mm), 10 ft x 5 ft (3,100 x 1,560 mm) and 12 ft x 6.5 ft (4,020 x 2,050 mm), and Hendrick offers it either as a moving gantry or as a moving table machine. Custom table sizes and configurations are available.

Z travel is 13 in (330 mm). That is the tallest standard Z figure of the three 3-axis series, which matters for thick blocks, deep fixtures and the boring and saw units that hang below the head. Rapid traverse is 2,400 in/min (60 m/min) with cutting speeds up to 800 in/min (20 m/min), on precision ground helical rack and pinion in X and Y and a precision ball screw in Z.

One HSD HSK63-F high frequency spindle with an automatic rotary tool changer is the standard head. The option list is where this series separates from its siblings: a two spindle configuration with two 8 station automatic tool changers, independent head spacing by program, and two multi boring units. The larger boring unit carries 14 vertical and 6 horizontal spindles on 32 mm centers and two saw heads. Hendrick describes the line as carrying up to 16 tools.

Automatic tool length measurement, a multi-zone vacuum table with a Becker vacuum pump and pop-up location pins are standard, and the control is an OSAI Open CNC with a manual pulse generator. Spindle power is not printed for the series. With two heads cutting mirrored or identical parts at once, two parts come off each cycle without a second machine, but head spacing has to suit the part pitch, so check it against the nest.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 13 in (330 mm) of Z travel as standard
  • Optional two spindle configuration with two 8 station automatic tool changers and head spacing set by program
  • Available as a moving gantry or a moving table machine
  • HSD HSK63-F high frequency spindle, automatic rotary tool changer and automatic tool length measurement are standard
  • Two optional multi boring units, the larger with 14 vertical and 6 horizontal spindles on 32 mm centers and two saw heads

Limitations

  • Rapid traverse of 2,400 in/min (60 m/min) is below the 3,200 in/min (80 m/min) of the HSR-R Series
  • No optional extended table lengths are listed; anything longer than the standard tables is a custom configuration
  • The second spindle, the boring units and spray mist coolant are all options
  • Spindle power is not stated for the series

Best For

Twin-head production of identical or mirrored parts Cabinet and furniture lines that need routing, boring on 32 mm centers and sawing in one setup Thick stock and tall fixtures that use the 13 in (330 mm) Z travel Plants that prefer a moving table layout to a moving gantry

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Can the HHD-R Series run two spindles?

Yes, as an option. Hendrick lists a two spindle configuration with two 8 station automatic tool changers, and independent head spacing by program so the distance between the heads is set from the part program. The standard machine has one HSD HSK63-F spindle with an automatic rotary tool changer.

02 What table sizes are standard on the HHD-R Series?

8 ft x 4 ft (2,500 x 1,230 mm), 10 ft x 5 ft (3,100 x 1,560 mm) and 12 ft x 6.5 ft (4,020 x 2,050 mm). Custom table sizes and configurations are available, and the machine can be built with a moving gantry or a moving table.

03 How much Z travel does it have?

Z axis travel is 13 in (330 mm) on a precision ball screw. For comparison, the HSR-R Series lists 8 in (200 mm) as its standard Z travel.

04 What boring options are offered?

Two multi boring units. One has 9 vertical and 6 horizontal independently programmable boring spindles on 32 mm centers and 1 saw head. The other has 14 vertical and 6 horizontal spindles on 32 mm centers and two saw heads.

05 How fast does the HHD-R Series move?

Rapid traverse is 2,400 in/min (60 m/min) and cutting speed is up to 800 in/min (20 m/min). X and Y are driven by precision ground helical rack and pinion and Z by a precision ball screw.
