How much does the Röders RHP500 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Röders RHP500 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Röders RHP500 is the only model in the RHP series, and the one Röders machine with hydrostatic guideways. It combines them with linear motors in the linear axes, which the maker says gives very smooth running with minimal friction. The machining range is 500 mm x 552 mm x 300 mm (19.7 x 21.7 x 11.8 in).
Röders is unusually frank about where this machine belongs. It recommends the RHP500 for specialised applications requiring sub-micrometre tolerances, and says such machines are still manufactured because specific applications call for them. The example it gives is sub-micrometre roundness in small bores, produced by grinding. For most other precision work the maker itself points to its RPT models.
Two practical conditions follow from the design. The machine is suitable for all materials except dusty ones like graphite, so electrode work is out. And the preferred lubricant is temperature-controlled flushing oil, which means an oil system and its temperature control are part of the installation.
The table is 600 mm x 540 mm (23.6 x 21.3 in) and takes 400 kg (882 lb). The standard spindle runs at 42,000 rpm with 14 kW (18.8 hp) on HSK E40, for tools up to 16 mm. A chain changer with 42 places can be loaded during machining and has an integrated tool measuring laser. Maximum height is 455 mm (17.9 in) between spindle nose and machine table. At about 10.0 t on W 3,015 mm x L 2,510 mm x H 2,750 mm, it is heavier than the RPT600, which has a similar table.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Hydrostatic guideways combined with linear motors in the linear axes
- Recommended by the maker for sub-micrometre tolerances, such as roundness of small ground bores
- 42,000 rpm, 14 kW (18.8 hp) HSK E40 spindle
- 42 place chain changer that can be loaded during machining, with tool measuring laser
- 400 kg (882 lb) on a 600 mm x 540 mm (23.6 x 21.3 in) table
Limitations
- Not suitable for dusty materials like graphite
- The preferred lubricant is temperature-controlled flushing oil, which adds to the installation
- Only one size in the series; no 5-axis version is listed
- About 10.0 t for a 500 mm x 552 mm x 300 mm machining range

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Its guideways are hydrostatic. Röders describes the key feature of the RHP machines as the combination of hydrostatic guideways with linear motor technology in the linear axes, so that they operate very smoothly and with minimal friction.
02
Röders states that it is suitable for all materials, except dusty ones like graphite. The preferred lubricant is temperature-controlled flushing oil.
03
The machining range is 500 mm x 552 mm x 300 mm (19.7 x 21.7 x 11.8 in) over a 600 mm x 540 mm table. Maximum height is 455 mm between spindle nose and machine table, and the workpiece can weigh up to 400 kg (882 lb).
04
The standard spindle runs at 42,000 rpm with 14 kW (18.8 hp) and an HSK E40 interface, for tools up to 16 mm; others are on request. The chain changer has 42 places and can be loaded during machining.
