Overview
The Röders RXU2000 is a large portal machine that comes in two versions: one with a machining range of 2,000 mm x 1,800 mm x 800 mm (78.7 x 70.9 x 31.5 in), and one with 2,400 mm x 1,400 mm x 800 mm (94.5 x 55.1 x 31.5 in). Röders describes the choice as a rather squared or an elongated table. Both carry workpieces up to 5,000 kg (11,023 lb).
The tables measure 2,000 mm x 1,750 mm and 2,300 mm x 1,750 mm, with 22 mm T-slots at a distance of 170 mm. Röders names large progressive dies as the work the machine is ideally suited for, and the elongated version fits that kind of long, narrow tool. Crane loading is possible from both sides, a practical point when a 5,000 kg die set has to be placed without turning it in the aisle.
Precision on a part this size is a temperature problem. Röders offers temperature control of the machining area as an option and links it to temperature-controlled grinding oil, so the machine is evidently intended to jig grind large plates as well as mill them.
The spindle is the RXU standard, 24,000 rpm with 67 Nm (S1) on HSK A63 and tools up to 35 mm, with 102 Nm (S1) as the largest option. The chain changer holds 86 tools. Unlike the smaller models, the measuring laser stands beside the table with chip protection, and 2 screws deliver chips straight to a conveyor.
