Overview

Pinnacle sells a 10 in chuck in two ways, and the Pinnacle L210B is the lighter of them: the larger chuck on the A2-6 spindle of the L210A, keeping 45 - 4,500 rpm and the 11 / 15 kW (14.8 / 20.1 hp) motor.

The alternative is the L210C, which carries its 10 in chuck on an A2-8 spindle with a 15 / 18.5 kW (20.1 / 24.8 hp) motor, 35 - 3,500 rpm and Ø77 mm (Ø3.0 in) of bar capacity. So the L210B suits chucked parts that need the bigger jaws but not the bigger bore: its bar capacity stays at Ø65 mm (Ø2.6 in) and its hole through the spindle at Ø77 mm (Ø3.0 in). It also stays on a 20 kVA supply where the L210C needs 30 kVA.

Everything around the spindle is shared across the range. Maximum turning diameter is Ø440 mm (Ø17.3 in) over a Ø520 mm (Ø20.5 in) swing, turning length is 610 mm (24.0 in), and travels are 210 mm (8.3 in) in X and 610 mm (24.0 in) in Z. The tailstock is MT4 with a Ø85 x 80 mm (Ø3.3 x 3.1 in) quill and 470 mm (18.5 in) of travel.

The chuck is hydraulic and operated by a foot switch. Ten tools sit in the turret, indexed in 0.13 sec. At 4,100 kg (9,039 lb) the L210B is 2.7 x 1.6 x 1.8 m overall and needs air at 6 kg/cm².

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 10 in chuck with the 45 - 4,500 rpm speed range of the smaller spindle
  • Runs on 20 kVA, where the 10 in L210C needs 30 kVA
  • Hydraulic chuck operated by a foot switch
  • Tailstock quill of Ø85 x 80 mm (Ø3.3 x 3.1 in) on 470 mm (18.5 in) of tailstock travel

Limitations

  • Bar capacity stays at Ø65 mm (Ø2.6 in) despite the larger chuck
  • 11 / 15 kW (14.8 / 20.1 hp) motor; the L210C has 15 / 18.5 kW (20.1 / 24.8 hp) for the same chuck size
  • Turret is limited to 10 stations of □25 mm (□1.0 in) tooling
06

Best For

Chucked parts that need 10 in jaws at up to 4,500 rpm Flanges and discs within the Ø290 mm (Ø11.4 in) standard turning diameter Shops limited to a 20 kVA supply

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Should I choose the L210B or the L210C for a 10 in chuck?

Both list a 10 in chuck. The L210B has an A2-6 spindle nose, 45 - 4,500 rpm, 11 / 15 kW (14.8 / 20.1 hp) and Ø65 mm (Ø2.6 in) of bar capacity. The L210C has an A2-8 nose, 35 - 3,500 rpm, 15 / 18.5 kW (20.1 / 24.8 hp) and Ø77 mm (Ø3.0 in) of bar capacity. Pick by speed or by bore and power.

02 How fast does the Pinnacle L210B spindle run?

The range is 45 - 4,500 rpm on an 11 / 15 kW (14.8 / 20.1 hp) spindle motor. Pinnacle describes the spindle as supported by precision high speed angular ball bearings to increase rigidity and extend bearing life.

03 What is the tailstock on the L210B?

An MT4 tailstock with a quill of Ø85 x 80 mm (Ø3.3 x 3.1 in) and 470 mm (18.5 in) of tailstock travel. Distance between centers is 610 mm (24.0 in), which is also the maximum turning length.

04 How much does the L210B weigh?

4,100 kg (9,039 lb), with overall dimensions of 2.7 x 1.6 x 1.8 m (length, width, height). The L210A with the 8 in chuck weighs 4,000 kg (8,818 lb). Power requirement is 20 kVA and air requirement is 6 kg/cm².
