How much does the Chevalier FBL-460 MC cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Chevalier FBL-460 MC that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Chevalier FBL-460 MC is the live-tooling version of the A2-15 big-bore lathe, with a 12-station BMT-75 turret and a 6 in (153 mm) spindle bore. It is meant for large rings, flanges and tubular parts that need holes or milled features after turning.
Unlike the smaller MC machines in the range, this one gives up very little diameter to the driven turret. Maximum cutting diameter is 25.5 in (650 mm), close to the 26.7 in (680 mm) of the FBL-460. Cutting length is 29.4 in (748 mm). The spindle speed is listed at 1,400 rpm, a little under the turning-only model's figure.
A flange is the typical job. Turn the faces and the bore, then index the spindle and drill the bolt circle with driven tools, all without taking the part out of a chuck that may take two people and a crane to load. No Y axis is listed, so the drilling and milling positions come from spindle rotation and X.
Z travel is 32.2 in (820 mm) and distance between centers 32 in (820 mm). The tailstock is programmable and has the same travel as Z. The machine weighs 20,944 lb (9,500 kg), needs 170 in x 86 in x 87.7 in (4,323 x 2,189 x 2,230 mm) of floor and runs a Fanuc 0i-T. X travel and rapid traverse are not shown because the maker's inch and metric figures for them disagree, and driven tool data is not in the table at all.

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Little. Maximum cutting diameter is 25.5 in (650 mm) and cutting length 29.4 in (748 mm) on the FBL-460 MC. The FBL-460 without driven tools lists 26.7 in (680 mm) and 30 in (762 mm). Swing over bed and cover are the same on both.
02
A BMT-75 tool system with 12 tools. Square turning tools are 1 1/4 in x 1 1/4 in on S.A.E. machines or 32 x 32 mm on metric ones. Speed and power of the driven stations are not given on the maker's page.
03
The table lists 1,400 rpm for the FBL-460 MC. The spindle nose is A2-15 and the spindle hole diameter 6 in (153 mm). Chevalier states that the lathe features up to a 50HP spindle motor.
04
Floor space is 170 in x 86 in x 87.7 in (4,323 x 2,189 x 2,230 mm) and net weight 20,944 lb (9,500 kg). Swing over the bed is 33.0 in (840 mm), so allow room in front of the door for loading large chucked parts by crane.
