Overview
The Pinnacle L210A is a slant bed CNC turning center with an 8 in chuck, 610 mm (24.0 in) between centers and a maximum turning diameter of Ø440 mm (Ø17.3 in). It is the base model of four L210 variants that share one bed and differ in chuck and spindle.
Pinnacle describes a 45 slant bed design that gives the turret a firm support and helps chip removal. Extra wide box ways on X and Z are hardened and precision ground, and the major castings are Meehanite iron, tempered to relieve stress. Box ways favour damping over speed; even so the rapids are 20 / 24 m/min.
On the L210A the spindle is the A2-6 size: Ø77 mm (Ø3.0 in) through hole, Ø65 mm (Ø2.6 in) bar capacity, 45 - 4,500 rpm and an 11 / 15 kW (14.8 / 20.1 hp) motor. The L210C trades speed for size, with a Ø77 mm (Ø3.0 in) bar capacity at 35 - 3,500 rpm.
Travels are 210 mm (8.3 in) in X and 610 mm (24.0 in) in Z. The turret has 10 stations, indexes in 0.13 sec tool to tool and takes □25 mm (□1.0 in) turning tools and Ø40 mm (Ø1.6 in) boring bars. An MT4 tailstock with 470 mm (18.5 in) of travel supports shaft work. The machine weighs 4,000 kg (8,818 lb), occupies 2.7 x 1.6 x 1.8 m and needs 20 kVA.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 45 - 4,500 rpm spindle, the faster of the two L210 spindle sizes
- Ø65 mm (Ø2.6 in) bar capacity through a Ø77 mm (Ø3.0 in) spindle bore
- Hardened and ground box ways on X and Z in a Meehanite cast iron structure
- 10-station turret with a 0.13 sec tool-to-tool index
- MT4 tailstock with 470 mm (18.5 in) of travel
Limitations
- The 8 in chuck is the smallest of the L210 range; the L210B fits a 10 in chuck on the same spindle
- X travel is 210 mm (8.3 in)
- No live tooling or Y axis in the table; Pinnacle offers those on the PK-L210A/BMY
- Standard turning diameter is Ø290 mm (Ø11.4 in), well under the Ø440 mm (Ø17.3 in) maximum

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Maximum turning diameter is Ø440 mm (Ø17.3 in), standard turning diameter is Ø290 mm (Ø11.4 in) and maximum turning length is 610 mm (24.0 in). Swing over the bed is Ø520 mm (Ø20.5 in) and swing over the cross slide is Ø360 mm (Ø14.2 in).
02
The chuck and the weight. The L210A has an 8 in chuck and weighs 4,000 kg (8,818 lb); the L210B has a 10 in chuck and weighs 4,100 kg (9,039 lb). Spindle nose, bore, bar capacity, motor and speed range are the same on both.
03
Box ways. Pinnacle states that the extra wide box ways on the X and Z axes have hardened and precision ground way surfaces, on a rib reinforced base of Meehanite cast iron. Rapid speed is 20 / 24 m/min on X and Z.
04
The turret has 10 stations and an index time of 0.13 sec tool to tool. Pinnacle says it can be mounted with 25 x 25 mm O.D. tools and 40 mm boring tools, which matches the □25 mm (□1.0 in) and Ø40 mm (Ø1.6 in) rows of the table.
