Price estimate
We do not have a price for the HNK NT-16/20 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The HNK NT-16/20 is the stepped-rail version of the 1,600 mm (63.0 in) table machine, and it is taller than it is wide in proportion: 1,660 mm (65.4 in) of turning height against a 2,000 mm (78.7 in) swing. Among the NT machines with the 200 x 200 mm (7.9 x 7.9 in) ram, this one has the most room under the rail.
The cross rail moves 250 mm (9.8 in) x 3 steps. Z travel of the ram head is 900 mm (35.4 in), which is well short of the turning height. On a tall part, then, the rail position decides which band of the part the tool can reach, and a full-height bore may need the rail moved between operations. Plan the process around that.
Capacity is otherwise the same as the NT-16/20F: 10,000 kg (22,046 lb) on the table, about 250 rpm in two steps, an A.C 37/45 kW (49.6/60.3 hp) motor on HNK's cont/30min basis, and X travel from -200 to +1,170 mm (-7.9 to +46.1 in). Tool shanks are 40 x 40 mm (1.6 x 1.6 in). HNK lists Fanuc 31i-B and Siemens 840D.
If the heavier 240 x 240 mm (9.4 x 9.4 in) ram matters more than table size, the NT-20/25 is the next step.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 1,660 mm (65.4 in) turning height, the most of any NT with the 200 x 200 mm (7.9 x 7.9 in) ram
- Cross rail travels 250 mm (9.8 in) x 3 steps
- 2,000 mm (78.7 in) swing and 10,000 kg (22,046 lb) table load
- X reaches +1,170 mm (+46.1 in) from centre
Limitations
- Z travel is 900 mm (35.4 in), a little over half the turning height
- Ram stays at 200 x 200 mm (7.9 x 7.9 in) on a much taller envelope
- About 250 rpm at most on the table

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Maximum turning height is 1,660 mm (65.4 in). The cross rail moves in 3 steps of 250 mm (9.8 in) and the ram head adds 900 mm (35.4 in) of Z travel, so check that the features you need to cut fall within reach at one rail position.
02
The rail and the height. The NT-16/20F has a fixed type cross rail and 900 mm (35.4 in) of turning height. The NT-16/20 has the stepped rail and 1,660 mm (65.4 in). Table, swing, load, motor, speed and X travel are the same in the maker's table.
03
The table states only the section, 200 x 200 mm (7.9 x 7.9 in), and gives no cutting-force or torque figure. The NT-20/25 has a 240 x 240 mm (9.4 x 9.4 in) ram, so discuss the cut with HNK if the part is tall and the ram will be well extended.
04
The control system row reads Fanuc 31i-B, Siemens 840D. No option list is published on the series page, so features such as tool measurement or a tool changer should be confirmed with the maker.
