How much does the OPS Ingersoll GANTRY EAGLE 500 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the OPS Ingersoll GANTRY EAGLE 500 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The OPS Ingersoll GANTRY EAGLE 500 is a 4-axis gantry sinker EDM with X/Y/Z travel of 525 / 400 / 450 mm (20.7 / 15.7 / 17.7 in) and a table rated for 1,000 kg (2,205 lb). It is the size the maker's brochure uses to show its handling systems, and automation is the best way to read the machine.
Start with what loads it. The built-in changer is a pick-up rotary disc with 20 positions, each electrode up to 15 kg (33 lb) and 60 kg (132 lb) all told. To reach it, Y runs out to 675 mm (26.6 in), well past the 400 mm (15.7 in) used for burning. For longer unattended runs the brochure pairs the machine with a MultiChange light or performance system for up to 232 electrodes and 10 workpiece pallets, and one such system can serve up to 2 machines.
The work zone itself is a tank of 770 x 670 x 440 mm (30.3 x 26.4 x 17.3 in) that rises and falls while full, guided by precision ball screws according to the brochure. Because the tank drops away, the 750 x 650 mm (29.5 x 25.6 in) table is left clear for loading. Dielectric level is programmable to 375 mm (14.8 in), and the system holds 400 l.
Compared with the GANTRY EAGLE 400 it doubles the table load from 500 kg (1,102 lb) and adds travel in every axis, on the same 16 kVA supply and with the same 640 kg (1,411 lb) generator cabinet. The EAGLE G50 Competition and the EAGLE G5 Precision are built to the same travels with the newer PowerSPARK generator, so the choice among the three is about generator and thermal equipment, not size.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Shown by the maker with MultiChange handling for up to 232 electrodes and 10 workpiece pallets
- 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) table load on a 750 x 650 mm (29.5 x 25.6 in) table
- Rise-and-fall work tank that travels filled, with a programmable level up to 375 mm (14.8 in)
- Y travel extends to 675 mm (26.6 in) to reach the electrode changing position
- Linear measuring system in all axes and a C-axis with 0.001° positioning are standard
Limitations
- Head load is 100 kg (220 lb); the GANTRY EAGLE 800 doubles that to 200 kg (441 lb)
- Automatic electrode changes are limited to 15 kg (33 lb) per electrode
- The brochure table gives no C-axis torque for this size
- Listed with the PowerTEC PT60 generator; the PowerSPARK generator is offered on the EAGLE G50 Competition instead

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The standard rotary-disc changer has 20 positions and a 30 position version is optional. Each electrode may weigh up to 15 kg (33 lb) and the full magazine up to 60 kg (132 lb), both maximum values. With an external MultiChange light or performance system the brochure quotes up to 232 electrodes and 10 workpiece pallets in a variable configuration.
02
The work tank is 770 x 670 x 440 mm (30.3 x 26.4 x 17.3 in) and the table surface 750 x 650 mm (29.5 x 25.6 in). Maximum dielectric level is 375 mm (14.8 in). The electrode chuck sits between 135 mm (5.3 in) and 585 mm (23.0 in) above the table, depending on the clamping system.
03
The two share their travels, tank, table and load figures. The equipment lists differ: the GANTRY EAGLE 500 has the EAGLE PowerTEC fine finish generator PT60, and the EAGLE G50 Competition has the EAGLE PowerSPARK Generator with 60 amps plus a precision package with head cooling, spindle nut cooling and work tank temperature control.
04
Power input is 16 kVA at 400 V / 50 Hz, with 32 A fuse protection. The generator cabinet weighs 640 kg (1,411 lb). A chiller with 3.9 kW of cooling power and automatic lubrication are part of the listed features, and a CO2 fire extinguisher of 6 kg (13 lb) is fitted.
