Excetek ED800C — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Excetek ED800C that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Excetek or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

A 350 kg (772 lb) electrode limit marks the Excetek ED800C as a different class of die sinker from the ED models below it. The ED30C, ED400C and ED600C are all listed at 50 kg (110 lb). The ED800C pairs that much stronger head with 800 mm (31.5 in) of X travel, 600 mm (23.6 in) of Y and 500 mm (19.7 in) of Z.

Workpiece capacity scales to match. The table is 1,200 x 700 mm (47.2 x 27.6 in), the maximum workpiece 1,600 x 1,000 x 500 mm (63.0 x 39.4 x 19.7 in), and the weight limit 4,000 kg (8,818 lb). Those numbers describe bumper-tool inserts, large housings and die-cast dies, jobs where one big electrode replaces several small burns and the head has to carry it through a deep Z stroke.

Going larger does not buy depth straight away. The ED1400C, the next model with its own page, keeps 500 mm (19.7 in) of Z and widens the table instead.

For the installation, Excetek gives 3,260 x 3,320 x 3,200 mm (128.3 x 130.7 x 126.0 in) including body, travel, tank and generator, and a machine weight of 5,000 kg (11,023 lb). Note the height: 3,200 mm needs checking against the crane hook and the roof. The oil filter tank holds 1,500 L, weighs 450 kg (992 lb) and has four paper filters. No tank dimensions are printed for this model. The ED Series catalogue lists safety provisions that matter with this much oil in the room, namely an auto fire detection system and oil level detection.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 350 kg (772 lb) maximum electrode weight, against 50 kg (110 lb) on the ED600C
  • 4,000 kg (8,818 lb) workpiece capacity on a 1,200 x 700 mm (47.2 x 27.6 in) table
  • Travels of 800 mm (31.5 in), 600 mm (23.6 in) and 500 mm (19.7 in) in X, Y and Z
  • Workpiece envelope of 1,600 x 1,000 x 500 mm (63.0 x 39.4 x 19.7 in)
  • Auto fire detection and oil level detection are named in the catalogue's safety protection

Limitations

  • Installation is 3,200 mm (126.0 in) high and occupies 3,260 x 3,320 mm (128.3 x 130.7 in)
  • 1,500 L oil filter tank weighing 450 kg (992 lb), with no tank dimensions printed

01 What are the travels of the ED800C?

X travel is 800 mm (31.5 in), Y travel 600 mm (23.6 in) and Z travel 500 mm (19.7 in). The work table measures 1,200 x 700 mm (47.2 x 27.6 in).

02 How heavy an electrode and workpiece can the ED800C take?

The maximum electrode weight is 350 kg (772 lb) and the maximum workpiece weight 4,000 kg (8,818 lb). The largest workpiece listed is 1,600 x 1,000 x 500 mm (63.0 x 39.4 x 19.7 in).

03 How does the ED800C compare with the ED800C CE?

Travels are the same. The ED800C CE has a 1,250 x 750 mm (49.2 x 29.5 in) table, a 5,000 kg (11,023 lb) workpiece limit, a 300 kg (661 lb) electrode limit and a 1,430 L tank with six paper filters. The ED800C has the heavier electrode rating, 350 kg (772 lb), and a 1,500 L tank with four filters.

04 What does the ED800C need on the shop floor?

A space of 3,260 x 3,320 x 3,200 mm (128.3 x 130.7 x 126.0 in) for machine body, travel, tank and generator, and a floor rated for the 5,000 kg (11,023 lb) machine, the 450 kg (992 lb) tank, 1,500 L of oil and a workpiece of up to 4,000 kg (8,818 lb).
