Price estimate
We do not have a price for the OPS Ingersoll GANTRY EAGLE 1400plus that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The OPS Ingersoll GANTRY EAGLE 1400plus is the tall version of the maker's large-format gantry sinker EDM, with Z travel raised to 900 mm (35.4 in) on X and Y travels of 1,250 mm (49.2 in) and 2,350 mm (92.5 in). OPS Ingersoll says it enlarged the machining space in Z to keep up with increasingly larger moulds, as in the automotive industry.
Every difference from the standard-height machine is vertical. The GANTRY EAGLE 1400 stops at 700 mm (27.6 in) of Z and a dielectric level of 750 mm (29.5 in). Here the tank is 1,015 mm (40.0 in) high, on the same 1,510 x 2,590 mm (59.4 x 102.0 in) plan, and the level can be programmed up to 975 mm (38.4 in). A deep mould half can therefore stay submerged while the electrode works near its top face.
Nothing else in the brochure column changes, which tells a buyer what the extra height does not bring. Head load is still 300 kg (661 lb). Automatic electrode changes are still limited to 25 kg (55 lb), with 150 kg (331 lb) in the 15-position linear magazine. Power input stays at 23 kVA with 40 A fuse protection, and the chiller at 8.3 kW.
A taller submerged volume means more dielectric to move, filter and keep at temperature; the filter surface is 32 m². The series is offered for underground or above-ground installation, and with a machine of this height the pit option deserves a careful look at crane clearance. Confirm table size and load capacity with the maker before quoting a job.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 900 mm (35.4 in) of Z travel, against 700 mm (27.6 in) on the GANTRY EAGLE 1400
- Dielectric level programmable up to 975 mm (38.4 in) in a tank 1,015 mm (40.0 in) high
- Plan travel of 1,250 mm (49.2 in) by 2,350 mm (92.5 in), unchanged from the standard-height machine
- Linear magazine with 15 positions, 30 or 48 optional, and combi magazines for the RAM clamping system
- C-axis with 120 Nm (88.5 lb-ft) of torque and 0.001° positioning
Limitations
- Head load stays at 300 kg (661 lb) despite the taller work zone
- Requires 23 kVA and 40 A fuse protection
- Has no product page of its own; the maker documents it as a column in the series brochure
- Automatic electrode change is limited to 25 kg (55 lb) per electrode

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Z travel is 900 mm (35.4 in), where the GANTRY EAGLE 1400 has 700 mm (27.6 in). The tank is 1,015 mm (40.0 in) high and the maximum dielectric level 975 mm (38.4 in); the GANTRY EAGLE 1400 lists 750 mm (29.5 in) for the level. X and Y travel are unchanged at 1,250 mm (49.2 in) and 2,350 mm (92.5 in).
02
Head load is 300 kg (661 lb). The C-axis takes 50 kg (110 lb) with manual changing and 25 kg (55 lb) with automatic changing. The standard magazine carries 150 kg (331 lb) in total and the optional changer 200 kg (441 lb). The brochure marks these as maximum values that vary with the clamping system.
03
The brochure lists an adaptive-current generator with 60 A maximum machining current and a 110 A option, a PC-NC-dialog control described as 2 x 32 bit, and digital AC servo drives. It also states that the EAGLE POWERTEC controller can control up to six EDM axes simultaneously, and that the POWERJUMP reaches lifting speeds of up to 18 m/min.
04
Yes. Underground or above ground installation is listed for the series. The electrical data are 23 kVA, 40 A fuse protection and 400 V / 50 Hz, with an 8.3 kW chiller and a 30 kg (66 lb) CO2 fire extinguisher. Ask for the installation drawing of the variant you choose, because the two differ in loading height.
