How much does the OPS Ingersoll EAGLE G80 Competition cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the OPS Ingersoll EAGLE G80 Competition that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The OPS Ingersoll EAGLE G80 Competition is a gantry die-sinking EDM for long mould plates: Y travel is 850 mm (33.5 in), well beyond its 550 mm (21.7 in) of X, with 450 mm (17.7 in) in Z and a 360° C-axis. The table measures 760 x 1,000 mm (29.9 x 39.4 in) and is rated for 2,000 kg (4,409 lb).
That rectangular layout is the point of the machine. A plate with a row of cavities can be burned end to end without re-clamping, and the 200 kg (441 lb) head load leaves room for heavy graphite electrodes or holders carrying several at once. The work tank, 800 x 1,100 x 480 mm (31.5 x 43.3 x 18.9 in), lowers for loading and fills to a programmable 450 mm (17.7 in).
In size it is the twin of the GANTRY EAGLE 800, which has the same travels and the same 2,000 kg (4,409 lb) table rating. The Competition version swaps the generator. It is listed with the EAGLE PowerSPARK Generator at 60 amps and a PowerSPARK fine finish package, plus head cooling, spindle nut cooling and work tank temperature control in a precision package. OPS Ingersoll attaches three claims to that equipment: more precision from the new cooling concept, outstanding surfaces with graphite and copper, and multi-cavity machining with up to 50% less wear.
Standard equipment also covers an electrode changer with 20 positions, EAGLE PowerJUMP at 18 m/min in Z and a 32 m² paper filter, twice the filter area listed for the EAGLE G50 Competition at 16 m². Options include a 110 amps generator and a 30 position changer. Weight, footprint and electrical data are not published on the product page.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 850 mm (33.5 in) of Y travel over a 760 x 1,000 mm (29.9 x 39.4 in) table suits long plates and rows of cavities
- Table load of 2,000 kg (4,409 lb) and head load of 200 kg (441 lb), both double the EAGLE G50 Competition ratings
- PowerSPARK generator, fine finish package and the cooling-based precision package are all in the standard list
- The maker states multi-cavity machining with up to 50% less wear
- 32 m² paper filter and EAGLE PowerJUMP at 18 m/min in the Z-axis as standard
Limitations
- X travel is only 550 mm (21.7 in); wide moulds need the GANTRY EAGLE 1200 with 1,010 mm (39.8 in)
- Z travel of 450 mm (17.7 in) and a 480 mm (18.9 in) tank depth restrict tall workpieces
- No machine weight, connected load or footprint on the product page; only a floor plan is offered
- The standard changer holds 20 positions; larger electrode sets need the 30 position option or external handling

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Travels, tank, table and load ratings are identical in the two tables: 550 / 850 / 450 mm, a 2,000 kg (4,409 lb) table load and a 200 kg (441 lb) head load. The GANTRY EAGLE 800 is listed with the EAGLE PowerTEC fine finish generator PT60. The EAGLE G80 Competition carries the EAGLE PowerSPARK Generator with 60 amps, the PowerSPARK fine finish package and a precision package built on head, spindle nut and tank temperature control.
02
X is 550 mm (21.7 in), Y is 850 mm (33.5 in) and Z is 450 mm (17.7 in), with a C-axis of 360° making it a 4-axis machine as listed. The long axis is Y, so plan fixture layouts with the long side of the plate along the 1,000 mm (39.4 in) side of the table.
03
The product page lists multi-cavity machining with up to 50% less wear, outstanding surfaces with graphite and copper, and more precision by a new cooling concept. No test conditions are given with these statements, so treat the wear figure as the maker's claim and ask what generator settings and electrode material it refers to.
04
Further options include a 110 amps generator, a technology package for fine finish and carbide machining and a 30 position electrode changer. For automation the page names MultiChange light or performance systems for the connection of up to 2 machines.
