How much does the OPS Ingersoll GANTRY EAGLE 1400 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the OPS Ingersoll GANTRY EAGLE 1400 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Built for automotive-scale tooling, the OPS Ingersoll GANTRY EAGLE 1400 is a gantry die-sinking EDM with 1,250 mm (49.2 in) of X, 2,350 mm (92.5 in) of Y and 700 mm (27.6 in) of Z. Its table is rated for 10,000 kg (22,046 lb).
Installation is the first decision. The maker offers the machine for underground or above-ground installation, and the choice affects how a mould of several tonnes gets onto the 1,380 x 2,380 mm (54.3 x 93.7 in) table. Either way the services step up from the smaller frames: 23 kVA and 40 A fusing, where the GANTRY EAGLE 1200 needs 18 kVA and 32 A, and a chiller of 8.3 kW.
OPS Ingersoll describes two kinds of work for it: small electrodes burning fine detail into large moulds, and large electrodes. The table reflects both. The C-axis positions to 0.001° and turns at 1-20 rpm for the delicate end, while the 300 kg (661 lb) head load and 120 Nm (88.5 lb-ft) of C-axis torque serve the heavy end. The gap between chuck and table spans 230 mm (9.1 in) to 930 mm (36.6 in).
The tank is 1,510 x 2,590 x 790 mm (59.4 x 102.0 x 31.1 in) with a level of up to 750 mm (29.5 in). If that height is not enough, the GANTRY EAGLE 1400plus keeps the X and Y travel and extends Z to 900 mm (35.4 in) with a level of 975 mm (38.4 in). The standard changer is a linear magazine with 15 positions, and combi magazines of 2/18 or 4/18 are optional.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 2,350 mm (92.5 in) of Y travel and a 10,000 kg (22,046 lb) table for large mould halves
- Can be installed underground or above ground
- Linear magazine with 15 positions; 30 or 48 optional
- 8.3 kW chiller, against 3.9 kW on the GANTRY EAGLE 1200
- 300 kg (661 lb) head load and electrodes up to 25 kg (55 lb) in automatic change
Limitations
- Needs 23 kVA and 40 A fuse protection, more than any smaller model in the range
- Minimum chuck-to-table distance is 230 mm (9.1 in), so low workpieces need long electrode holders or risers
- Z travel is 700 mm (27.6 in), no more than the GANTRY EAGLE 1200; the GANTRY EAGLE 1400plus is needed for 900 mm (35.4 in)
- Foundation and pit work has to be planned around the installation type chosen

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Height. Both have 1,250 mm (49.2 in) of X and 2,350 mm (92.5 in) of Y travel. The GANTRY EAGLE 1400 has 700 mm (27.6 in) of Z and a maximum dielectric level of 750 mm (29.5 in). The GANTRY EAGLE 1400plus raises Z to 900 mm (35.4 in) and the level to 975 mm (38.4 in), in a tank 1,015 mm (40.0 in) high.
02
The product page lists underground or above ground installation as a feature, so the machine can sit in a pit or on the shop floor. The table gives 23 kVA power input, 40 A fuse protection and 400 V / 50 Hz. Ask the maker for the floor plan of the installation type you intend, since loading height and foundation differ between the two.
03
The work table carries 10,000 kg (22,046 lb) and the head 300 kg (661 lb). On the C-axis, electrodes up to 50 kg (110 lb) can be changed by hand and up to 25 kg (55 lb) automatically. The standard magazine holds 150 kg (331 lb) of electrodes in total, or 200 kg (441 lb) with the optional changer.
04
The standard pick-up linear magazine has 15 positions. Rotary-disc changers with 30 or 48 positions are optional. With the RAM clamping system for pallet-mounted electrodes, a combi magazine of 2/18 or 4/18 can be fitted. External MultiChange handling is listed as an automation extension.
