How much does the OPS Ingersoll GANTRY EAGLE 400 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the OPS Ingersoll GANTRY EAGLE 400 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The OPS Ingersoll GANTRY EAGLE 400 is the smallest die-sinking EDM in the maker's gantry range, with 420 mm (16.5 in) of X, 300 mm (11.8 in) of Y and 400 mm (15.7 in) of Z. OPS Ingersoll calls it the entry-level model for high-precision work on small applications.
Small here still means a real machine. The table is 550 x 470 mm (21.7 x 18.5 in) and holds 500 kg (1,102 lb); the head takes 100 kg (220 lb), the same head rating as the GANTRY EAGLE 500. Z travel is notable. At 400 mm (15.7 in) it exceeds the Y travel, and with the chuck sitting between 110 mm (4.3 in) and 510 mm (20.1 in) above the table, deep ribs and tall inserts fit a frame that is short in plan.
The tank is the constraint to check first. Its inside dimensions are 650 x 500 x 340 mm (25.6 x 19.7 x 13.4 in) and the dielectric rises to 300 mm (11.8 in) at most, so anything taller cannot be submerged. Total dielectric volume is 320 l, filtered through an integrated 16 m² cartridge.
Equipment matches the larger frames more closely than the size suggests. The brochure table lists a 60 A adaptive-current generator with a 110 A option, a 1-20 rpm C-axis with 0.001° positioning, and a 15 kg (33 lb) limit for automatic electrode changes. A pick-up rotary disc with 20 positions is standard. Y moves 580 mm (22.8 in) to reach the electrode changing position. Supply is 16 kVA at 400 V / 50 Hz.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Compact gantry frame that still offers 400 mm (15.7 in) of Z travel and up to 510 mm (20.1 in) between chuck and table
- Integrated C-axis with 1-20 rpm and 0.001° angle positioning
- Rotary-disc electrode changer with 20 positions as standard
- EAGLE PowerJUMP lifts at up to 18 m/min in the Z-axis to flush the gap
- Modest supply: 16 kVA with 32 A fuse protection at 400 V / 50 Hz
Limitations
- Y travel is 300 mm (11.8 in), the shortest in the range
- Dielectric level tops out at 300 mm (11.8 in) in a tank 340 mm (13.4 in) deep
- Table load of 500 kg (1,102 lb) is half the 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) of the GANTRY EAGLE 500
- No C-axis torque figure is given for this size, whereas the GANTRY EAGLE 800 lists 120 Nm (88.5 lb-ft)

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Up to 500 kg (1,102 lb) on a 550 x 470 mm (21.7 x 18.5 in) table. The work tank is 650 x 500 x 340 mm (25.6 x 19.7 x 13.4 in) inside and the dielectric level reaches 300 mm (11.8 in), which sets the practical workpiece height for submerged burning. Axis travel is 420 / 300 / 400 mm in X/Y/Z.
02
The product page lists the EAGLE PowerTEC fine finish generator PT60 in the standard version, and the brochure table describes the generator type as adaptive current with a maximum machining current of 60 A. A 110 A generator is the listed option, along with a technology package for fine finish and carbide machining.
03
The head load is 100 kg (220 lb). On the C-axis the maker allows 50 kg (110 lb) for manual electrode changes and 15 kg (33 lb) for automatic ones. The changer magazine carries 60 kg (132 lb) in total. All of these are marked as maximum values that may vary with the clamping system used.
04
The GANTRY EAGLE 500 is the next size up, with 525 mm (20.7 in) of X, 400 mm (15.7 in) of Y and a 1,000 kg (2,205 lb) table load. The GANTRY EAGLE 400 gives up that area but keeps the same generator rating, head load and 20-position changer, and holds 320 l of dielectric.
