Onsrud 98C — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Onsrud 98C that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Onsrud or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Onsrud 98C is the smallest twin-table C-Series router. Two tables, each 48 in (1,220 mm) by 60 in (1,524 mm), shuttle under a fixed bridge that carries an 18 hp (13.4 kW) spindle at 24,000 rpm. Onsrud calls the tables X and U.

Two independent tables are the reason to pick a C-Series over a single-table machine. One table is cut while the other sits forward, clear of the spindle, for unloading and loading. Onsrud calls this pendulum processing. Because each table has its own axis, a part as large as the table can be placed on each and machined all the way round.

The frame is short and wide: 129 in (3,277 mm) long, 213 in (5,411 mm) wide and 132 in (3,353 mm) high. Each table gets one of the 2 standard vacuum zones.

Standard Z-stroke is 11 in (279 mm), and this series lists three longer strokes: 16 in (406 mm), 28 in (711 mm) and 40 in (1,016 mm). The tool changer holds 12, and an additional 12-position changer can be added to shorten tool changes. A 24 hp (17.9 kW) spindle and a second spindle complete the upgrade list.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How large are the tables on the Onsrud 98C?

There are two, an X table and a U table, each 48 in (1,220 mm) by 60 in (1,524 mm). The machine has 2 vacuum zones as standard.

02 What is pendulum processing on the 98C?

With twin tables, one is loaded while the spindle cuts on the other. When the machine switches tables, the finished parts are removed and that table is reloaded. The spindle keeps cutting while the operator works.

03 How tall a part can the 98C machine?

The standard Z-stroke is 11 in (279 mm). Onsrud lists 16 in (406 mm), 28 in (711 mm) and 40 in (1,016 mm) strokes as upgrades for the C-Series.

04 Is there a larger version of the 98C?

Yes. The 122C has twin tables of 60 in (1,524 mm) by 60 in (1,524 mm), and the 146C has 60 in (1,524 mm) by 72 in (1,829 mm) tables with 4 vacuum zones.
