CMS Tracer 100 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the CMS Tracer 100 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from CMS or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The CMS Tracer 100 is what CMS calls an all-in-one machining centre for plastics: 3 or 5 axes, a drilling unit and a flat extruded aluminium work surface on one mobile gantry. It is intended for technical articles and for trimming low-drawing thermoformed parts.

Thermoformed work explains the Z figures. The Z axis panel passage is 180 mm (7.1 in) as standard and 250 mm (9.8 in) as an option, enough to clear a shallow formed shell on its fixture. The JQX 5-axis operating unit, which CMS says is optimized for plastics, then follows the trim line around the part. Deep-drawn parts need a taller machine.

The routing unit is rated at up to 15 kW (20.5 hp) and 24000 rpm. Up to 57 places are available on the tool changer, and a 14-station FAST rack magazine travels inside the mobile cabin so that a tool change takes less than 15 seconds. The drilling unit has up to 21 independent vertical and 12 independent horizontal spindles, with an integrated blade in X of 125 mm (4.9 in).

Vectorial speed in X-Y is 78 m/min in the PRO-SPEED version and 56 m/min in PRO-SPACE, the version without perimeter protections. Plan the extraction for 4430 m3/h of exhaust air through an outlet of 250 mm (9.8 in).

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • JQX 5-axis operating unit optimized for plastics, with up to 15 kW (20.5 hp)
  • Up to 57 places on the tool changer and a 14-station FAST rack magazine in the mobile cabin
  • Tool change cycles in less than 15 seconds, according to CMS
  • Extruded aluminium work surface for both nesting sheets and thermoforming templates
  • Drilling unit with up to 21 independent vertical and 12 independent horizontal spindles

Limitations

  • Z axis panel passage is 180 mm (7.1 in) unless the 250 mm (9.8 in) option is ordered
  • PRO-SPACE version runs at 56 m/min against 78 m/min in PRO-SPEED
  • CMS's table lists no X-Y working area for this model

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the Tracer 100 designed for?

CMS describes it as an all-in-one machining center with 3 and 5 axes for plastic materials and advanced materials, with technical solutions dedicated to the technical article and to low-drawing thermoformed products.

02 How tall a part fits under the gantry?

The Z axis panel passage is 180 mm (7.1 in), with 250 mm (9.8 in) listed as an option. CMS summarises this as a wide workpiece passage in Z up to 250mm.

03 How fast are tool changes on the Tracer 100?

CMS states that the 14-station FAST rack magazine inside the mobile cabin keeps tools in front of the operating unit for change cycles in less than 15 seconds, and that working cycles are on average 9% faster with it. The tool changer has up to 57 places in total.

04 What are the PRO-SPACE and PRO-SPEED versions?

They are two safety layouts. PRO-SPACE has no perimeter protections and a vectorial speed in X-Y of 56 m/min. PRO-SPEED is listed at 78 m/min. CMS credits the PRO-SPACE layout with an average saving of 15% of occupied room in the workshop.
