Overview

The Anderson PTP 2813 is a point-to-point machining center for panel processing: a pod and rail table of 3200 mm X 1400 mm (126” x 55”) with 2 working fields, a router spindle and a separate drilling unit with vertical and horizontal drills. It is the one Anderson router in this range that does not use a flat vacuum table.

Panels sit on movable vacuum pods carried by 6 rails, with 2 pods on each as standard, and the pods are listed as 50mm thick. Raising the panel off the table is what allows the head to work the edges and drill into them. Each rail has 2 pop-up pins for location, there are 2 more at each end of the machine, and 4 panel lifting blades help slide heavy boards into place.

Drilling is where a machine like this earns its keep. The boring unit is rated 3 Horsepower at 4800 RPM and carries 13 vertical drills in X and 7 in Y on a 32 mm pitch, plus horizontal drills listed as X: 3 + 3, Y: 1 + 1. That covers system holes, hinge plates and dowel holes in panel edges without a tool change. An X + Y sawing unit for grooving is optional.

The router spindle is 12 HP air cooled, with 18 HP optional, at up to 21,000 rpm on HSK-63F. The automatic tool changer row reads 8 / 10 / 12 / 16. Rapids are 80 m/min in X, 60 m/min in Y and 20 m/min in Z, on helical rack and pinion with a ball screw for Z. The control is FANUC 0i with a PC front end, and light barriers cover the 2 working zones. Z stroke is 250 mm (9.8”) and the machine weighs 3,500 Kg (7,716 lbs.).

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Pod and rail table: 6 rails of movable vacuum pods lift the panel for edge work
  • Drilling unit with 13 + 7 vertical drills on a 32 mm pitch and horizontal drills in X and Y
  • 2 working fields with light barriers for 2 working zones
  • Router spindle of 12 HP air cooled, 18 HP optional, at up to 21,000 rpm on HSK-63F
  • 4 panel lifting blades and pop-up pins on every rail for loading and location

Limitations

  • Pods have to be positioned for each panel size, unlike a flat nesting table
  • The X + Y sawing unit, the C-axis and the backside safety fence are optional
  • One 9 HP Becker vacuum pump is listed, sized for pods and not for a full spoilboard
  • Working table is 1400 mm (55”) deep, so wider panels do not fit

Best For

Cabinet sides and furniture panels that need face and edge drilling Custom and short-run panel work processed one piece at a time Edge profiling of panels raised on pods Pendulum loading across 2 working fields

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What size panel does the PTP 2813 take?

The working table is listed as 3200 mm X 1400 mm (126” x 55”) and is divided into 2 working fields. Z stroke is 250 mm (9.8”). With 2 fields, a shorter panel can be machined at one end while another is loaded at the other, behind light barriers for the 2 working zones.

02 What drilling capacity does the PTP 2813 have?

The drilling/boring unit is rated 3 Horsepower and turns at 4800 RPM. Vertical drills are listed as X: 13, Y: 7 and horizontal drills as X: 3 + 3, Y: 1 + 1, with a drilling pitch of 32 mm. An X + Y sawing unit is an option.

03 How is the workpiece held on the PTP 2813?

On movable vacuum pods and rails. The table lists 6 rails with 2 pods each, and 3 standard 50mm thickness movable pods per rail. Vacuum comes from one 9 HP Becker pump. Location is by 2 pop-up pins per rail plus 2 pins at the left end and 2 at the right, and 4 panel lifting blades assist loading.

04 Which control does the PTP 2813 use?

The specification table lists FANUC 0i + PC Front End. Anderson also describes a fully integrated software package for the series, which it says simplifies parts designing. Confirm the control with Anderson when quoting, because the feature list on the same page names a different controller.
