Niigata N600 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Niigata N600 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Niigata or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

A 50-taper spindle on a 500 mm pallet is the reason to look at the Niigata N600. It is the middle model of the N series of horizontal machining centers, with a BBT50 (BIG-PLUS) spindle rated at 12,000 min-1 and 623 N·m (460 lb-ft), travels of 800 mm × 750 mm × 850 mm and a pallet load of 800 kg (1,764 lb).

The pallet is the same 500 mm × 500 mm as on the N500, but nearly everything around it is larger. Z travel of 850 mm is longer than X, which gives room for long tools and deep bores on a part that swings up to φ800 mm and stands up to 1,000 mm tall. Pallet indexing is 0.001°.

Speed is the other half of the specification. All three linear axes rapid at 60 m/min on roller guides, which Niigata says it chose for rigidity and vibration absorption. The structure behind this is the maker's BOX in BOX layout: a fixed column, a wide guide space and a light moving mass, on a T-shaped base with 3-point leveling. On the spindle side, Niigata separates the spindle from its motor and uses a coupling of low thermal conductivity, with the stated aim of decreasing thermal displacement.

The ATC is cam-driven with a servo motor. Niigata's times are 1.9 s with a 10 kg tool, 2.5 s with a 20 kg tool and 3.1 s with a 30 kg tool, so the changer is clearly built with heavy 50-taper tooling in mind. The chain magazine is listed as 60 / 126 tools. Niigata also says the major options are available as a package.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • BBT50 (BIG-PLUS) spindle with 12,000 min-1 and 623 N·m (460 lb-ft) on a 500 mm × 500 mm pallet
  • 60 m/min rapids on X, Y and Z with roller guides on all axes
  • 850 mm of Z travel, longer than the 800 mm of X, for long tools and deep features
  • ATC handles heavy tools: 1.9 s at 10 kg, 2.5 s at 20 kg and 3.1 s at 30 kg
  • Spindle and motor are separated, with a low thermal conductivity coupling

Limitations

  • Workpiece height is capped at 1,000 mm, the same as on the smaller N500
  • The N700 offers a 630 mm × 630 mm pallet and 1,200 kg with the same spindle, so heavier fixtures outgrow the N600 quickly
  • The table lists one spindle only; no higher-torque or higher-speed alternative is shown for this model

Best For

Steel and cast-iron parts up to φ800 mm × 1,000 mm that need 50-taper tools Production cells where 60 m/min rapids matter more than the last bit of low-speed torque Mixed work with heavy tools, given ATC times quoted up to 30 kg Fourth-axis contouring with 0.001° pallet indexing

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What size parts fit on the Niigata N600?

The maximum workpiece is φ800 mm in swing diameter and 1,000 mm in height, on a 500 mm × 500 mm pallet that carries 800 kg (1,764 lb). Axis travels are 800 mm in X, 750 mm in Y and 850 mm in Z.

02 What are the spindle figures of the N600?

The table lists 12,000 min-1, a maximum torque of 623 N·m (460 lb-ft) and a BBT50 (BIG-PLUS) tool shank. Niigata states that the spindle and motor are separated and joined by a coupling made of a low thermal conductivity material, to decrease thermal displacement.

03 Is the N600 a box-way machine like Niigata's HN series?

No. Niigata fits high-rigidity roller guides to the X, Y and Z axes of the N600 and builds it on its BOX in BOX double-box structure with a fixed column. That is what allows 60 m/min rapids. The HN50E, which has the same pallet size, is a column-traverse machine that rapids at 30 m/min.

04 N600 or N700: what is the difference?

The spindle, rapids and magazine are identical. The N700 moves up to a 630 mm × 630 mm pallet with 1,200 kg, travels of 1,000 mm, 950 mm and 1,050 mm, and a workpiece of φ1,100 mm × 1,200 mm. The N600 stays at 500 mm × 500 mm, 800 kg and φ800 mm × 1,000 mm.
