Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Niigata HPN800-BAR that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Niigata HPN800-BAR combines the fast HPN800 platform with a bar spindle for internal boring. The linear axes rapid at 60 m/min (2,362 ipm), which is exceptional for a machine that can also push a φ130 mm quill 555 mm into a workpiece. It uses an 800 mm × 800 mm pallet, carries 2,500 kg (5,511 lb) and accepts parts up to φ1,750 mm × 1,400 mm.
Niigata's wording is careful: this model can be equipped with a BAR spindle of φ130 mm diameter and 555 mm stroke. The quill stroke itself does not appear as a row in the specification table, which lists the W axis only by its rapid rate of 5 m/min. The spindle rows read 8,000 min-1 and 1,202 N·m (887 lb-ft) with a BT50 shank, the same figures as the HPN800. Buyers should confirm with Niigata which speed and torque apply with the bar spindle fitted.
Travels are 1,530 mm in X, 1,230 mm in Y and 1,220 mm in Z. Compared with the box-way HN80E-BAR, that is more Y and more Z, and much quicker positioning.
The structure is the HPN design. A T-shaped base with honeycomb ribs stands on 3-point support with 5-point auxiliary leveling, and the spindle sits centrally in the column, so, as Niigata puts it, the column does not twist. A core cooling function limits thermal growth of the spindle. ATC, APC and a tightly sealed splash guard are standard, and center-through coolant is featured for chip removal in deep bores. The magazine holds 90 tools, with 128 as an option.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 60 m/min (2,362 ipm) rapids on a machine that accepts a bar spindle
- Bar spindle of φ130 mm with a 555 mm stroke, per Niigata's description
- 1,230 mm of Y and 1,220 mm of Z travel
- ATC, APC and a sealed splash guard as standard
- 90-tool magazine, 128 optional
Limitations
- The specification table does not list the W-axis stroke, only its 5 m/min rapid
- Listed torque of 1,202 N·m is below the 1,836 N·m of the HN80E-BAR
- Niigata says the model can be equipped with the BAR spindle, so check what the base configuration includes

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Niigata describes a BAR spindle with a W-axis spindle diameter of φ130 mm and a stroke of 555 mm, with a core cooling function to reduce thermal deformation. The specification table lists a W-axis rapid traverse of 5 m/min.
02
Rapid traverse on X, Y and Z is 60 m/min (2,362 ipm). The W axis moves at 5 m/min. The table lists a spindle speed of 8,000 min-1.
03
X (column left/right) is 1,530 mm, Y (spindle up/down) is 1,230 mm and Z (table forward/backward) is 1,220 mm. The pallet is 800 mm × 800 mm with a 2,500 kg (5,511 lb) limit, and the maximum workpiece is φ1,750 mm × 1,400 mm.
04
The travels, pallet, rapids and listed spindle figures are the same. The BAR version adds the W axis for the bar spindle and lists the 128-tool magazine in option brackets. The pallet indexing row shows 1° with 0.001° as an option.
