Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Niigata HN100D-II that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Niigata HN100D-II takes the HN series formula up to a 1,000 mm × 1,000 mm pallet. It is a column-traverse horizontal machining center with 2,030 mm (79.9 in) of X travel, 1,650 mm (65.0 in) of Y and 1,200 mm (47.2 in) of Z, and it swings a workpiece of φ2,300 mm × 1,850 mm.
At this size the pallet load depends on the table. The standard figure is 3,500 kg (7,716 lb). A 5,000 kg (11,023 lb) rating is offered as an option, and Niigata's footnote restricts it to the NC table. Standard indexing is 1°, with 0.001° optional, so a buyer who needs the heavier rating is also buying the finer table.
The spindle is the same high-rigidity unit used elsewhere in the series: BT50, 6,000 min-1, 1,948 N·m (1,437 lb-ft), driven by an AC 30 / 22 kW motor. The optional high-speed spindle is a different tool altogether. It is direct-driven, reaches 15,000 min-1 and is rated 350 N·m with AC 35 / 30 kW, which suits aluminium structures and finishing but not the heavy roughing the standard head is built for.
Niigata describes a base among the thickest in its class and a monster column on a Z-axis guide surface with widened spacing, all on hardened, ground and hand-scraped square slides. All three axes rapid at 30 m/min. That is quicker than the larger HN130D, whose rapids are 18 / 12 / 12 m/min. The magazine starts at 62 tools and can be extended to 255 tools with the chain type or 230 tools with the matrix type.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- φ2,300 mm × 1,850 mm workpiece on a 1,000 mm × 1,000 mm pallet
- 1,948 N·m (1,437 lb-ft) standard spindle with an AC 30 / 22 kW motor
- Optional 5,000 kg (11,023 lb) pallet load with the NC table
- 30 m/min rapids on X, Y and Z despite 2,030 mm of X travel
- Optional 15,000 min-1 direct-drive spindle for lighter materials
Limitations
- The 5,000 kg rating applies to the NC table only; the standard table is limited to 3,500 kg
- The high-speed option gives 350 N·m, a fraction of the standard 1,948 N·m
- Rapids are slower than the 41 m/min of the HN1000-S, which has the same travels

Frequently Asked Questions
01
φ2,300 mm in swing diameter and 1,850 mm in height. The pallet is 1,000 mm × 1,000 mm. It carries 3,500 kg (7,716 lb) as standard, and 5,000 kg (11,023 lb) is an option that Niigata marks as available with the NC table only.
02
The standard high-rigidity spindle runs to 6,000 min-1 with 1,948 N·m and an AC 30 / 22 kW motor. The optional high-speed spindle uses a direct-drive motor and is listed at 15,000 min-1, 350 N·m and AC 35 / 30 kW. Both take BT50 tooling.
03
Both have a 1,000 mm × 1,000 mm pallet and identical travels. The HN100D-II has sliding guides on every axis and 30 m/min rapids. The HN1000-S puts roller guides on X and Z, rapids at 41 m/min and has a standard spindle of 1,200 N·m, with 1,948 N·m as an option.

62 tools in the standard magazine. Expandable chain magazines of 88, 128, 175 and 255 tools and matrix magazines of 126, 178 and 230 tools are listed as options, so the tool count can be matched to long unattended runs on large parts.
