Modig HHV2 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Modig HHV2 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Modig or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Modig HHV2 is a horizontal 4-axis machining center for bar and extrusion, with one spindle and two rotary tables. X travel is 1,500 mm (60 in), Z travel is 260 mm (10 in), and a U1 axis adds 1,170 mm (46 in). Stock size is the figure that decides fit: bar up to 127 x 127 mm (5 x 5 in) and extrusion up to 150 x 250 mm (6 x 10 in) in cross section, with larger options available.

The stock is held in rotary chucks that turn at 0-60 rpm, and the two rotary axes, A1 and A2, are listed at 190 degrees. Rotating the section in the chucks is how one horizontal spindle gets to more than one face of it in a single clamping. Jaws are a quick-change design, 1 min per rotary chuck, so moving from one profile shape to the next is a short stop.

The spindle runs 0-30,000 rpm with 42 kW (56 hp) S1 on HSK-A63, and Modig lists aluminum and composite as the materials. No torque is given. The short Z, 260 mm (10 in), is consistent with the job: the tool has to reach across a standard section no larger than 150 x 250 mm (6 x 10 in), not into a deep cavity. Tool storage is 12 or 24, changed in 8 sec chip to chip.

Axes feed at 0-60 m/min (0-2,400 in/min) with 10 m/s² (32 ft/s²) of acceleration, which matters on profile work made up of many short moves between features. The HHV3 lists the same spindle, the same HSK-A63 interface and the same 12 or 24 tools, so the spindle does not separate the two models; compare the rotary table and axis rows on each page. Where more spindle power or tool storage is needed, the FlexiMill is listed with up to 125 kW (168 hp) S1 and up to 300 tools.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Two rotary tables with rotary chucks turning at 0-60 rpm, so a bar or extrusion can be presented on more than one face per clamping
  • 0-30,000 rpm spindle with 42 kW (56 hp) S1 on HSK-A63
  • 8 sec chip-to-chip tool change and 10 m/s² (32 ft/s²) acceleration keep non-cutting time short
  • Quick-change jaws take 1 min per rotary chuck, so profile changeovers are short
  • Takes bar up to 127 x 127 mm (5 x 5 in) and extrusion up to 150 x 250 mm (6 x 10 in), with larger options available

Limitations

  • Z travel is 260 mm (10 in), so the machine is limited to bar and profile sections
  • Tool storage is 12 or 24, small for parts with long tool lists
  • Only aluminum and composite are listed, and no spindle torque figure is given
  • The table gives no Y travel and does not say what the 1,170 mm (46 in) U1 axis carries
  • Sections above 127 x 127 mm (5 x 5 in) bar or 150 x 250 mm (6 x 10 in) extrusion need the larger options
06

Best For

Aluminum extrusions up to 150 x 250 mm (6 x 10 in) in cross section Bar stock up to 127 x 127 mm (5 x 5 in) machined on more than one face per clamping Profiles with many small features, where 10 m/s² (32 ft/s²) acceleration shortens the moves between them Short runs of different profiles, with a 1 min jaw change per rotary chuck High-speed drilling and milling of aluminum and composite at up to 30,000 rpm

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What stock sizes can the Modig HHV2 take?

Bar up to 127 x 127 mm (5 x 5 in) in cross section and extrusion up to 150 x 250 mm (6 x 10 in). Modig notes that larger options are available for both. X travel is 1,500 mm (60 in), and the table does not state a maximum part length, so ask Modig about the longest profile it will handle.

02 How is the workpiece held on the HHV2?

In rotary chucks on two rotary tables. The chucks rotate at 0-60 rpm and the A1 and A2 axes are listed at 190 degrees. Jaws are quick-change, 1 min per rotary chuck. A U1 axis with 1,170 mm (46 in) of travel is also listed; the table does not describe its function.

03 What spindle does the HHV2 have?

A single spindle running 0-30,000 rpm with 42 kW (56 hp) S1 and an HSK-A63 interface. No torque figure is listed. Modig names aluminum and composite as the materials, which matches a high-speed spindle of this kind.

04 How many tools does the HHV2 carry?

12 or 24, with a tool change of 8 sec chip to chip. That is a small magazine, so check that the full tool list for a family of profiles fits in 24 positions before counting on running it without reloading.

05 What is the difference between the HHV2 and the HHV3?

Not the spindle. Both are listed at 0-30,000 rpm with 42 kW (56 hp) S1, HSK-A63 and 12 or 24 tools. The HHV2 is a 4-axis machine with two rotary tables and a U1 axis of 1,170 mm (46 in). For the HHV3, compare the axis configuration and rotary table rows on its own page.

06 How fast are the HHV2 axes?

Feed is 0-60 m/min (0-2,400 in/min) and acceleration is 10 m/s² (32 ft/s²). The rotary chucks turn at 0-60 rpm. Tool change is 8 sec chip to chip.
