Price estimate
We do not have a price for the LVD ToolCell 220/40 PLUS that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
At 28,000 kg (61,728 lb) the LVD ToolCell 220/40 PLUS is the largest machine in LVD's tool-changing press brake range. It combines the longest bed, 4,000 mm (157.5 in), with the PLUS table and opening.
In figures: 2,200 kN at 285 bar, 5,040 mm (198.4 in) between the uprights, a table 200 mm (7.9 in) wide that takes 2,500 kN/m, and 570-670 mm (22.4-26.4 in) from table to ram. Stroke is 300-400 mm (11.8-15.7 in). The ram approaches at 120 mm/s, bends at 21 mm/s and returns at 200 mm/s on a 37 kW main motor with a 350 L tank.
This is the ToolCell for big, deep parts in small numbers: long trays, machine guards, tall U-sections. Each of those is awkward to set up by hand, because long segmented tools are heavy and a tall die set has to be built up along four metres. Here the machine does that work from its own warehouse while the operator fetches the blank.
The ToolCell 220/40 weighs 27,500 kg and has the same force and speeds, so the PLUS table and opening come almost free in mass. The ToolCell 220/30 PLUS, at 25,000 kg, is the same machine on a 3,050 mm bed.
Long, heavy blanks sag. LVD lists two programmable sheet followers and front supports on guide rails as options, and on this model they deserve a place on the quotation. Easy-Form Laser measurement and the 6-axis modular backgauge are standard.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Longest and tallest ToolCell: 4,000 mm (157.5 in) bed with 570-670 mm (22.4-26.4 in) open height
- Table rated at 2,500 kN/m and 200 mm (7.9 in) wide
- Tool stations along the full bed are set by the machine, top and bottom
- Same ram speeds as the three-metre 2,200 kN models
- Adaptive angle correction with Easy-Form Laser is standard
Limitations
- 28,000 kg (61,728 lb), the heaviest of the five models
- No force step above 2,200 kN in the ToolCell range
- Sheet followers and front supports are options, though long parts will need them
- Approach limited to 120 mm/s

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Working length is 4,000 mm (157.5 in), distance between uprights 5,040 mm (198.4 in), open height 570-670 mm (22.4-26.4 in), stroke 300-400 mm and working height 970 mm (38.2 in). The machine weighs 28,000 kg (61,728 lb).
02
The ToolCell 220/40 has a 120 mm table rated at 2,000 kN/m, 500-600 mm of open height and weighs 27,500 kg. The PLUS has a 200 mm table rated at 2,500 kN/m and 570-670 mm of open height. Force, length, speeds, motor and tank are identical.
03
LVD states that all ToolCell models have a one-piece welded frame that can be installed at floor level. The foundation still has to carry 28,000 kg, so the floor loading should be checked with the installation drawing.
04
A modular backgauge that moves in 6 axes, which LVD describes as gauging both parallel and non-parallel parts automatically. Its fingers also carry the grippers that move tools between the warehouse and the ram and table.
