Price estimate
We do not have a price for the LVD ToolCell 220/40 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Four metres of bending line with the tools stored behind it: the LVD ToolCell 220/40 has a 4,000 mm (157.5 in) working length, 2,200 kN of force and the longest frame in the standard range, 5,040 mm (198.4 in) between the uprights.
Length changes what a tool-changing press brake is good for. On a short machine the changer mostly swaps one set-up for another. Over 4,000 mm there is room for staged set-ups, several tool stations side by side for a part that needs different punches or die openings, and the machine builds those stations itself from the warehouse. LVD's description covers both top and bottom tooling.
Against the ToolCell 220/30 the table shows no change in the hydraulics or the ram: 285 bar, a 37 kW main motor, a 350 L tank, 120 mm/s approach, 21 mm/s working speed and 200 mm/s return. The difference is mass, 27,500 kg (60,626 lb) against the 24,500 kg of the ToolCell 220/30, and the footprint that goes with the longer frame.
The same 2,200 kN is spread over a longer bed here, so the available force per metre on a full-length bend is lower than on the three-metre model. The table itself is rated at 2,000 kN/m and is 120 mm (4.7 in) wide. For long panels LVD lists front supports on guide rails and two programmable sheet followers as options, and both make more sense at this length than on the shorter machines.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 4,000 mm (157.5 in) working length with automatic changing of top and bottom tools
- 5,040 mm (198.4 in) between the uprights
- Same 120 mm/s approach and 21 mm/s working speed as the three-metre 2,200 kN model
- Easy-Form Laser, variable frequency drive and 6-axis modular backgauge included
- One-piece welded frame installed at floor level
Limitations
- 27,500 kg (60,626 lb), where the ToolCell 220/30 weighs 24,500 kg
- 2,200 kN is the ceiling of the ToolCell range, and here it covers a longer bed
- Sheet followers for long, heavy panels are optional
- Only LVD dies and W style punches fit the changer

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The working length is 4,000 mm (157.5 in). The uprights are 5,040 mm (198.4 in) apart, more than the working length, so the full bed is clear of the side frames. Stroke is 300-400 mm and the table-to-ram distance 500-600 mm.
02
Not according to LVD's table. Approach, working and return speeds are 120, 21 and 200 mm/s, the same as on the ToolCell 220/30, with the same 37 kW motor and 350 L oil tank. Weight is 27,500 kg, against 24,500 kg for the ToolCell 220/30.
03
Front supports on guide rails that can be positioned along the whole bending line, two programmable sheet followers that support the sheet during the bend, and an increase in stroke and table-to-ram distance of up to 100 mm.
04
Yes: the ToolCell 220/40 PLUS has the same 4,000 mm length and 2,200 kN but a 200 mm wide table rated at 2,500 kN/m and 570-670 mm of open height, and weighs 28,000 kg.
