Overview

The LVD PPEC 40/12,5 is the smallest press brake in LVD's PPEC series, a hydraulic machine with 400 kN of press force and a 1,250 mm (49.2 in) working length. LVD states that the PPEC is available only for non-CE markets, so buyers in CE countries should look at the maker's other series.

It is small enough to be placed like a workbench. The table gives the outline: 1,560 mm (61.4 in) long, 1,350 mm (53.1 in) wide and 2,235 mm (88.0 in) high. LVD publishes no weight for the PPEC.

And it is quick. Approach is 210 mm/s, working speed 18 mm/s and return 200 mm/s, from a 5.5 kW servo motor with a 180 L tank. LVD's electric machine of similar size, the Dyna-Press 40/15, approaches at 100 mm/s and works at 25 mm/s, so the hydraulic PPEC travels faster and bends a little slower.

The geometry suits small parts with deep flanges. The throat is 305 mm (12.0 in), far more than the 100 mm of the Dyna-Press 40/15, and there are 1,050 mm (41.3 in) between the uprights. Stroke is 160 mm (6.3 in) under 400 mm (15.7 in) of open height. The table is only 60 mm (2.4 in) wide.

LVD's table files this size under type PPEC-4, with the axes Y1-Y2-X-R: two independently controlled ram cylinders and a backgauge that moves in depth and height. Front sheet supports are standard.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 210 mm/s approach and 200 mm/s return on a 5.5 kW servo motor
  • 305 mm (12.0 in) throat on a 1,250 mm (49.2 in) machine
  • Footprint of 1,560 x 1,350 mm (61.4 x 53.1 in)
  • Y1-Y2-X-R control with front sheet supports as standard
  • Touch-B control that integrates with CADMAN-B

Limitations

  • Available only for non-CE markets
  • 400 kN and a 160 mm (6.3 in) stroke limit it to small, light parts
  • Table width of 60 mm (2.4 in)
  • No Z axes in the PPEC-4 axis list
06

Best For

Small brackets, clips and covers outside CE markets Short parts with flanges up to the 305 mm throat Workshops with very little floor space

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Where is the PPEC 40/12,5 sold?

LVD's page carries the note that PPEC is available only for non-CE markets. It gives no list of countries, so availability has to be checked with the local LVD office.

02 How does it compare with the Dyna-Press 40/15?

The Dyna-Press 40/15 is an electric machine with 400 kN over 1,530 mm, a 100 mm throat and speeds of 100 and 25 mm/s for approach and working. This hydraulic model has 400 kN over 1,250 mm, a 305 mm throat and speeds of 210 and 18 mm/s.

03 What do the axes Y1-Y2-X-R mean?

They are the axes in LVD's table heading for the PPEC-4 type. Y1 and Y2 are the two ram cylinders, X is the backgauge depth and R its height, following the usual press brake convention.

04 How big is the machine?

1,560 mm (61.4 in) long, 1,350 mm (53.1 in) wide and 2,235 mm (88.0 in) high. LVD's PPEC table lists these outline dimensions and an oil volume of 180 L, but no weight.
