Overview
The Amada EG-4010 is a 40-ton, 1-meter all-electric servo press brake built for small precision parts. It runs on dual AC servo motors driving the ram directly with no hydraulic oil, no pumps, and no warm-up time.
Press capacity is 400 kN (40 metric tons / 45 US tons) with a 1,020 mm (40.2 in) press beam length. The compact footprint suits tight shop layouts, cell-based manufacturing, or as a secondary brake for short-run precision work. Stroke is 150 mm (5.9 in), open height is 295 mm (11.6 in).
The dual servo drive delivers ram repeatability of ±0.001 mm, matching Amada’s much larger HG series. For a compact electric brake, that accuracy is exceptional and eliminates trial bends on most materials. Real-time tonnage monitoring and automatic springback compensation are standard.
The AMNC 3i control with 15.6-inch touchscreen handles bend simulation, automatic sequencing, and VPSS 3i offline programming connectivity. Operators trained on any Amada brake can move to the EG-4010 without relearning.
The EG-4010 excels in electronics enclosures, small brackets, medical device components, and precision instrument housings. The electric drive produces less vibration, translating to better surface finish. It runs significantly quieter than hydraulic machines.
New units typically price $60,000-$90,000. Used units are scarce because owners keep them for years. When available, expect $35,000-$55,000 for 2016-2020 vintage. Competitors include Trumpf TruBend 2100, Bystronic Xpert 40, and SafanDarley E-Brake Mini.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Fully electric servo drive eliminates hydraulic oil, filters, warm-up, and leak risk
- ±0.001 mm repeatability matches the premium HG series despite compact size
- Compact 1-meter bed fits tight layouts, cells, or alongside larger machines
- Significantly quieter than hydraulic brakes for enclosed environments
- Same AMNC 3i control as full Amada range means zero retraining
- Less vibration during bending results in better surface finish
Limitations
- 40-ton capacity and 1-meter bed severely limit part size
- $60K-$90K is significant for 40 tons vs imported hydraulic under $20K
- Proprietary Amada tooling limits third-party options
- Scarce used market because owners keep them long-term
- No room for large backgauge configurations in compact frame

Frequently Asked Questions
01
$60,000-$90,000 new. Used 2016-2020: $35,000-$55,000 when available.
02
Close. No oil changes, filter replacements, or leak repairs. Just linear guide lubrication and ball screw inspection.
03
Air-bends mild steel up to ~3mm full bed, stainless ~2mm. Thicker on shorter bends.
04
HG-1003 is 100T, 3m, hybrid hydraulic. EG-4010 is 40T, 1m, all-electric. Different niches.
05
Far more suitable than any hydraulic. No oil, low noise, low vibration.
