Overview
The Litz LH-1250 is the largest horizontal machining center in the LH series. Its 1,250 x 1,250 mm (49.2 x 49.2 in) pallets each carry 5,000 kg (11,023 lb), and travels are 2,100 mm (82.7 in) in X, 1,235 mm (48.6 in) in Y and 1,500 mm (59.1 in) in Z.
Against the LH-1000 it changes three things: the pallet, the load and the Z stroke. The extra Z travel is the practical one. A deeper Z axis lets a long boring bar pass right through a large housing from one side, or reach the far wall of a deep part without turning the pallet, which protects the alignment of bores cut in line.
Five tonnes per pallet puts this machine in the class of large pump casings, wind and marine gear housings, press components and machine tool castings. Maximum workpiece height is 1,500 mm (59.1 in). The inclined shuttle-type pallet changer takes 26 s.
The spindle is shared with the LH-1000: No.50 taper, 6,000 rpm, 660 Nm (487 lb-ft) through a ZF gear box and belt, with a 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp) motor. Tool shank is ISO 50 or NBT-50. Sixty tools are carried, each up to 600 mm (23.6 in) and 30 kg (66 lb), with an 8 s change.
Weight is 35,000 kg (77,160 lb) on a floor area of 8,410 x 5,850 mm (331.1 x 230.3 in). Supply is 65 kVA and rapids are 24,000 mm/min (945 ipm).
