JTEKT FH5000S-i — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the JTEKT FH5000S-i that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from JTEKT or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The JTEKT FH5000S-i is the CAT40 member of the FH5000 Series: a horizontal machining center with a 21.65 x 21.65 in (550 x 550 mm) pallet, 31.5 in (800 mm) of X travel, 31.50 in (800 mm) of Y and 34.6 in (880 mm) of Z. Its spindle runs to 15,000 RPM and is listed at 223 ft-lb (303 Nm) of torque. It is the only one of the three FH5000 models with a 20,000 RPM option.

The envelope is larger than the pallet suggests. Maximum workpiece swing is 35.4 in (900 mm) and maximum workpiece height is 43.3 in (1,100 mm), so a tall tombstone with parts on four faces fits, provided fixture and parts stay inside the 2,200 lb (1,000 kg) pallet load. That load figure is the one to check first on dense steel or iron work.

JTEKT describes the standard spindle as a 15,000 RPM, 50 HP unit with 303 Nm of torque on a four-bearing design with 85 mm ID bearings. On a CAT40 taper that points the machine at aluminium housings, mid-size steel parts and work with many small tools, where speed and a 2,362 ipm (60 m/min) rapid feedrate count for more than the heaviest face mill. If the same parts need a larger taper, the FH5500S-i carries the same 223 ft-lb (303 Nm) rating on CAT50 and adds X travel, 35.4 in (900 mm).

Tool storage is where this model has the widest choice in the series. JTEKT lists 60, 90, 120, 180, 240 and 330 tools; the 90 and 180 sizes are not in the tables of the two FH5500 models. The B-axis table is direct drive with a 90° index time of 0.7 seconds, and the control is JTEKT's TOYOPUC-Touch HMI running on FANUC 31iMB Plus.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 15,000 RPM spindle with 223 ft-lb (303 Nm) of torque, and a 20,000 RPM option that the other two FH5000 Series models do not list
  • Six tool storage sizes: 60, 90, 120, 180, 240 and 330
  • 35.4 in (900 mm) workpiece swing and 43.3 in (1,100 mm) workpiece height on a 21.65 x 21.65 in (550 x 550 mm) pallet
  • Direct drive B-axis table with a 90° index time of 0.7 seconds
  • 2,362 ipm (60 m/min) rapid feedrate on X, Y and Z

Limitations

  • CAT40 taper only; the CAT50 versions of this frame are the FH5500S-i and FH5500SX-i
  • X travel is 31.5 in (800 mm), against 35.4 in (900 mm) on the FH5500S-i
  • Pallet load stops at 2,200 lb (1,000 kg), fixture included
  • Spindle torque is 223 ft-lb (303 Nm); the FH5500SX-i is listed at 390 ft-lb (530 Nm)

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How does the FH5000S-i differ from the FH5500S-i?

Taper, X travel and tool storage choices. The FH5000S-i is CAT40 with 31.5 in (800 mm) of X travel and tool storage of 60, 90, 120, 180, 240 or 330. The FH5500S-i is CAT50 with 35.4 in (900 mm) of X and storage of 60, 120, 240 or 330. Pallet, Y and Z travel, pallet load and the 223 ft-lb (303 Nm) torque figure are the same in both tables.

02 What spindle speeds are available on the FH5000S-i?

15,000 RPM is the listed speed and 20,000 RPM is marked as an option. JTEKT's description of the standard spindle gives 50 HP and 303 Nm of torque, with a four-bearing design and 85 mm ID bearings. The page gives no power or torque figure for the 20,000 RPM option, so ask for its curve before choosing it for anything but light cuts.

03 What size of workpiece fits the FH5000S-i?

The pallet is 21.65 x 21.65 in (550 x 550 mm). Maximum workpiece swing is 35.4 in (900 mm), maximum workpiece height is 43.3 in (1,100 mm) and the maximum load on the pallet is 2,200 lb (1,000 kg). Travels are 31.5 in (800 mm) in X, 31.50 in (800 mm) in Y and 34.6 in (880 mm) in Z.

04 How many tools can the FH5000S-i hold?

The table lists 60, 90, 120, 180, 240 and 330 tools. JTEKT calls the 60-tool ATC standard and describes the larger magazines, up to 330 tools, as optional expansions meant for longer unattended running.

05 Which control does the FH5000S-i run?

JTEKT's TOYOPUC-Touch HMI, which the maker describes as a fully functional touch screen overlay running on FANUC 31iMB Plus. The product page lists no further control options for this model.
