Overview
The Litz MH-1000B is the upsized-pallet version of the geared LH-800B horizontal machining center. It carries 1,000 x 1,000 mm (39.4 x 39.4 in) pallets on travels of 1,300 mm (51.2 in) in X and 1,200 mm (47.2 in) in Y and Z, with a No.50 taper spindle that produces 660 Nm (487 lb-ft).
How does it relate to the LH-1000, which also has one-metre pallets? The two are very different machines. The LH-1000 is a 32,000 kg machine with 2,100 mm of X travel and a 3,500 kg pallet load. The MH-1000B weighs 25,000 kg (55,115 lb), covers 6,991 x 4,326 mm (275.2 x 170.3 in) and rates each pallet at 2,000 kg (4,409 lb). It gives a one-metre mounting face at a much smaller footprint and with faster 32,000 mm/min (1,260 ipm) rapids.
The trade-off is in the work zone. Maximum workpiece diameter is 1,300 mm (51.2 in), so a part that fills a 1,000 mm pallet corner to corner is close to the swing limit. Height can reach 1,300 mm (51.2 in).
Drive is by ZF gear box and belt at 6,000 rpm, with a 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp) motor. An 8,000 rpm spindle is an option. Tool shank is ISO 50 or NBT-50, and the accessory list gives a tool storage capacity of 60T. Tools can be 600 mm (23.6 in) long and 30 kg (66 lb). The pallet changer is a rotary type. Supply is 42 kVA and the coolant tank holds 850 L.
