Overview

The Litz CH5-3000 is a five-axis vertical machining center for long parts. It has 3,000 mm (118.1 in) of X travel, 1,000 mm (39.4 in) of Y and 750 mm (29.5 in) of Z, with A and B axis travels of -40° to +40° each.

With plus and minus forty degrees on two rotary axes, this is a machine for tilted features and swept surfaces on parts that stay flat on the table. Wing ribs, spars, long structural extrusions, blades and large composite tooling are typical. The workpiece does not move in rotation at all, so its length and weight are limited only by the 3,250 x 800 mm (128.0 x 31.5 in) table and its 3,000 kg (6,614 lb) rating.

The spindle is a No.50 taper unit at 12,000 rpm with a 25 / 30 kW (33.5 / 40.2 hp) motor, continuous and 30 min rated, and a tool clamping force of 18 kN. Tool shank is ISO 50 or BT-50. The arm-type changer holds 32 tools up to 350 mm (13.8 in) long and 20 kg (44 lb).

Axis rates suit contouring more than positioning: 15 / 12 / 10 m/min (591 / 472 / 394 ipm) rapids and cutting feed to 8,000 mm/min. A Z axis nitrogen balancing system and spindle oil cooling are standard. Linear scales, coolant through the spindle and tool and workpiece measuring are listed as accessories to order. Control is the FANUC 31i-B5. The footprint is 7,410 x 5,360 mm (291.7 x 211.0 in) and the weight 28,000 kg (61,728 lb).
