Overview

The Litz HU-1000 is a five-axis machining center built on a horizontal layout: a B-axis swing head that tilts the spindle from -0° to +180° works over a C-axis rotary table 1,000 mm (39.4 in) in diameter. Linear travels are 1,000 mm (39.4 in) in X, 880 mm (34.6 in) in Y and 710 mm (28.0 in) in Z.

Because the head swings through the vertical and on to the opposite horizontal, the same spindle can work as a vertical, as a horizontal, or at any angle between. The table lists separate clearances for each attitude: 110 to 820 mm (4.3 to 32.3 in) from spindle nose to table in the vertical position and 56 to 766 mm (2.2 to 30.2 in) from spindle centre to table in the horizontal one.

The spindle is a built-in motor unit at 18,000 rpm with 154 Nm (114 lb-ft) of torque and an HSK63A interface. BT-40, CAT-40 and DIN-40 are offered as alternatives. The B-axis head is driven by a torque motor, the C-axis table by a worm gear, and both index in 0.001° steps.

Accuracy equipment is standard, not optional: linear scales on the three linear axes and on B and C, plus hollow cooling of the X, Y and Z screws. The table carries 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) and parts up to 1,500 mm (59.1 in) high. A 40-tool magazine, chain-type chip conveyor and Siemens ONE control complete the base machine; FANUC 31i-B5 and HEIDENHAIN TNC7 are options. Weight is 18,000 kg (39,683 lb).

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How is the Litz HU-1000 laid out?

Litz calls it a 5 axes efficiency horizontal machining center. The spindle sits in a B-axis rotary milling head that swings from -0° to +180°, and the workpiece sits on a C-axis rotary table of 1,000 mm (39.4 in) diameter.

02 What spindle does the HU-1000 have?

A built-in motor spindle at 18,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 154 Nm (114 lb-ft). The standard interface is HSK63A, and BT-40, CAT-40 or DIN-40 can be ordered. A spindle cooling system is standard.

03 What is the workpiece capacity of the HU-1000?

The table takes workpieces up to 1,000 mm (39.4 in) in diameter and 1,500 mm (59.1 in) high, with a load of 1,500 kg (3,307 lb). Travels are 1,000 x 880 x 710 mm.

04 Are linear scales standard on the HU-1000?

Yes. The standard list includes a 3-axis linear scale, a B-axis linear scale and a C-axis linear scale, together with hollow cooling of the X, Y and Z guide rods. Both rotary axes have 0.001 degree division.
