How much does the Komo Xtreme XL cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Komo Xtreme XL that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Komo Xtreme XL is the starting point of Komo's moving table routers: one 18 hp (13.2 kW) fan-cooled HSK 63F spindle running up to 24,000 rpm, a side-mounted 12-tool changer and a 60 in wide table in three lengths. Komo recommends it for wood, plastics and composites and describes its buyer as cost-conscious yet demanding.
The three sizes are the 508 at 60 in x 96 in (1,524 mm x 2,438 mm), the 510 at 60 in x 120 in (1,524 mm x 3,048 mm) and the 512 at 60 in x 144 in (1,524 mm x 3,658 mm). X travel grows with the table, from 116 in (2,946 mm) to 164 in (4,166 mm), while Y stays at 84 in (2,134 mm) and Z at 10 in (254 mm). Ten inches of Z is a sheet-goods figure. It covers a spoilboard, a panel and a tool, and not much fixture height.
Speed is where the machine is generous for its class. Traverse rates are 3,150 ipm (80 m/min) in X, 2,300 ipm (58.5 m/min) in Y and 1,200 ipm (30.5 m/min) in Z, with acceleration of 150 in/sec². In nested work the head spends its time on short moves between parts, so the acceleration figure tells more about cycle time than the top speed does.
A side-mounted changer means the spindle travels to the magazine for each tool. It holds 12 tools, or 24 with a second optional 12 station changer, and it is aggregate capable. The Fusion XL is the step up if tool changes dominate: it mounts a 15-tool changer on the spindle and has 12 in (305 mm) of Z. Control is by FANUC with an integrated PC and a 19 in touch screen, running Komo Production Manager with Intelligent Spoil Board Management.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Traverse rates of 3,150 ipm (80 m/min) in X and 2,300 ipm (58.5 m/min) in Y with 150 in/sec² acceleration
- 18 hp (13.2 kW) four-pole, fan-cooled HSK 63F spindle, programmable up to 24,000 rpm
- Aggregate-capable changer for 12 tools, expandable to 24 with a second optional 12 station changer
- Three table lengths from 60 in x 96 in (1,524 mm x 2,438 mm) to 60 in x 144 in (1,524 mm x 3,658 mm)
- Tool touch-off device with automatic tool data uploading, and air blast at the tool
Limitations
- Z travel is 10 in (254 mm); the Fusion XL has 12 in (305 mm) and the Mach III 15 in (381 mm)
- The tool changer is side mounted, so every tool change costs a trip to the magazine
- Tools are limited to 5 in (127 mm) in length and 3.25 in (82 mm) in diameter with all positions full
- Komo recommends the series for wood, plastics and composites only; mist coolant for non-ferrous metals is an option
- The aluminum grid table is an option over the standard composite grid

Frequently Asked Questions
01
They are table sizes. The 508 has a 60 in x 96 in (1,524 mm x 2,438 mm) table, the 510 a 60 in x 120 in (1,524 mm x 3,048 mm) table and the 512 a 60 in x 144 in (1,524 mm x 3,658 mm) table. X travel is 116 in (2,946 mm), 142 in (3,607 mm) and 164 in (4,166 mm) in that order, with 84 in (2,134 mm) of Y and 10 in (254 mm) of Z on all three.
02
12 tools as standard, and a maximum of 24 with a second optional 12 station tool changer. The changer is aggregate capable. Tools can be up to 3.25 in (82 mm) in diameter with every position full or 6.5 in (165 mm) with the adjacent positions empty, up to 5 in (127 mm) long, and 12 lbs each with 80 lbs in total (5.4 kg / 36.4 kg).
03
FANUC controls with an integrated PC and a 19 in touch screen display, with what Komo calls its HVI servo system. The machine runs Komo Production Manager with Intelligent Spoil Board Management, and a tool touch-off device uploads tool data automatically.
04
Yes, with options. Boring blocks are available in configurations from nine to 25 spindles, and a C axis allows aggregate tooling for four axis machining. Other listed options are mist coolant for non-ferrous metals, the Pathfinder part registration system, a Real Time Tool View camera under the spindle and automatic material handling.
