How much does the Komo Solution Wide cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Komo Solution Wide that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Most routers are built around a sheet five feet wide. The Komo Solution Wide is for material that is not: its three tables are 96 in, 120 in and 144 in wide, each 144 in long, under a moving gantry. Komo developed it for customers who need more table width than a Solution XL.
Komo calls the sizes the 812, the 1012 and the 1212. Their tables measure 96 in x 144 in (2,438 mm x 3,658 mm), 120 in x 144 in (3,048 mm x 3,658 mm) and 144 in x 144 in (3,658 mm x 3,658 mm). All three travel 155 in (3,937 mm) in X. The cross travel follows the width: 116 in (2,946 mm), 140 in (3,556 mm) and 164 in (4,165 mm). If square is not long enough, the table is available up to 144 in x 110 ft (3,658 mm x 33,000 mm).
Spanning 144 in with a gantry is a structural question before it is a spindle question. Komo's answers on the page are an FEA engineered structure in heavy-duty steel fabrication and a dual helical rack drive on the X/U axes with synchronous axis control. The cutting head is modest by comparison. It is a single 18 hp (13.2 kW) fan-cooled HSK 63F spindle running up to 24,000 rpm with a 12-tool aggregate-capable changer.
Traverse is 2,100 ipm (53.5 m/min) in X, 2,300 ipm (58.5 m/min) in Y and 1,200 ipm (30.5 m/min) in Z, and acceleration is 83.3 in/sec². Z travel is 10 in (254 mm) with an optional 17.7 in (450 mm). On a bed this wide the operator cannot reach the middle from the side, so plan how sheets and parts will be loaded and cleared.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Tables 96 in, 120 in or 144 in wide, each 144 in long
- Cross travel up to 164 in (4,165 mm) on the 1212
- Available up to 144 in x 110 ft (3,658 mm x 33,000 mm)
- Dual helical rack drive on the X/U axes with synchronous axis control
- Optional 17.7 in (450 mm) Z travel over the standard 10 in (254 mm)
Limitations
- One 18 hp (13.2 kW) spindle and a 12-tool changer serve a very large table
- The centre of a 144 in wide bed is out of arm's reach, which complicates loading and cleanup
- Acceleration of 83.3 in/sec² is lower than the 95 in/sec² of the Solution XL
- Komo lists no automatic material handling option on this page, unlike the Solution XL

Three: the 812 with a 96 in x 144 in (2,438 mm x 3,658 mm) table, the 1012 with 120 in x 144 in (3,048 mm x 3,658 mm) and the 1212 with 144 in x 144 in (3,658 mm x 3,658 mm). Komo adds that the table is available up to 144 in x 110 ft (3,658 mm x 33,000 mm), and each table has four 1 in (25 mm) part location pins.

One Hiteco or HSD spindle rated 18 hp (13.2 kW), four-pole and fan cooled, with an HSK 63F taper and up to 24,000 rpm. The changer holds 12 tools and accepts aggregates. Boring blocks from nine to 25 spindles and a C axis for four axis machining are options, as is mist coolant for non-ferrous metals.
