Overview

Two tables under one gantry is the whole idea of the Komo Xtreme Twin Table. While the spindle cuts on one table the operator unloads and reloads the other, so the machine is not idle during handling. Komo offers it as the 1005, with two 60 in x 60 in (1,524 mm x 1,524 mm) tables, and the 1008, with two 60 in x 84 in (1,524 mm x 2,134 mm) tables.

The gantry travel is the same on both, 156 in (3,962 mm), because it has to span both tables. What changes is the base travel: 77 in (1,956 mm) on the 1005TT and 118 in (2,997 mm) on the 1008TT. Z travel is 10 in (254 mm). Each table has four 1 in (25 mm) part location pins, so a sheet goes back to the same place every cycle.

Komo fits a 16 hp (12 kW) four-pole, fan-cooled spindle here, slightly below the 18 hp (13.2 kW) unit of the single-table Xtreme XL, with the same HSK 63F taper and 24,000 rpm top speed. Traverse rates are 3,150 ipm (80 m/min) in X, 2,300 ipm (58.5 m/min) in Y and 1,200 ipm (30.5 m/min) in Z, and acceleration is 150 in/sec². This is also the one router page on which Komo prints a positioning figure: ±0.0008 in (0.02 mm) linear axis repeatability.

The side-mounted changer holds 12 tools and accepts aggregates, and a second optional 12 station changer raises capacity to 24. Komo recommends the machine for wood, plastics and composites.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Two tables for pendulum loading: 60 in x 60 in (1,524 mm x 1,524 mm) on the 1005 or 60 in x 84 in (1,524 mm x 2,134 mm) on the 1008
  • Komo states ±0.0008 in (0.02 mm) linear axis repeatability
  • Traverse of 3,150 ipm (80 m/min) in X with 150 in/sec² acceleration
  • Four 1 in (25 mm) part location pins on each table
  • 12-tool aggregate-capable changer, expandable to 24 tools

Limitations

  • Each table is at most 60 in x 84 in (1,524 mm x 2,134 mm), so full-length sheets have to be cut down first
  • The spindle is 16 hp (12 kW), against 18 hp (13.2 kW) on the Xtreme XL
  • Z travel is 10 in (254 mm)
  • One spindle only; the Fusion Twin Table can be ordered with two

Best For

Pendulum production of parts that fit a 60 in (1,524 mm) square table Repeat jobs located on pins, loaded while the other table runs Wood, plastic and composite components cut from part-size blanks Shops that lose more time to loading than to cutting

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How large are the tables on the Xtreme Twin Table?

The 1005 has two tables of 60 in x 60 in (1,524 mm x 1,524 mm) and the 1008 has two of 60 in x 84 in (1,524 mm x 2,134 mm). Each table carries four 1 in (25 mm) part location pins. Among the options Komo lists an aluminum universal grid table and integrated pop-up roller balls.

02 What are the axis travels?

The 1005TT travels 156 in (3,962 mm) x 77 in (1,956 mm) x 10 in (254 mm) and the 1008TT 156 in (3,962 mm) x 118 in (2,997 mm) x 10 in (254 mm). The long first figure is the gantry crossing both tables, and the second grows with the table depth.

03 What spindle does the Xtreme Twin Table have?

One Hiteco or HSD spindle rated 16 hp (12 kW), four-pole and fan cooled, with an HSK 63F taper and a programmable speed of up to 24,000 rpm. Air blast at the tool is listed for chip evacuation and cooling, and a C axis for aggregate tooling is an option.

04 How does it differ from the Fusion Twin Table?

The Fusion Twin Table uses larger tables, two of 72 in (1,829 mm) x 60 in (1,524 mm) or 72 in (1,829 mm) x 72 in (1,829 mm), an 18 hp (13.2 kW) spindle with a spindle-mounted 15-tool changer, and can take a second spindle. The Xtreme Twin Table has the higher acceleration figure, 150 in/sec², and a side-mounted 12-tool changer.
