Overview
The Komo Solution XL is a moving gantry router on a 60 in wide bed whose length is the buyer's choice. Three sizes are catalogued, and Komo will build the table up to 60 in x 110 ft (1,524 mm x 33,000 mm).
The listed sizes are the 510 at 60 in x 120 in (1,524 mm x 3,048 mm), the 512 at 60 in x 144 in (1,524 mm x 3,658 mm) and the 524 at 60 in x 288 in (1,524 mm x 7,316 mm). X travel is 131 in (3,327 mm), 155 in (3,937 mm) and 299 in (7,595 mm) in that order, with 80 in (2,032 mm) in Y. Because the gantry moves and the bed does not, the machine takes up little more floor than its table, and the 524 can hold two full sheets end to end.
A long gantry axis needs a drive that keeps both ends in step. Komo uses a dual helical rack drive on the X/U axes with synchronous axis control, a detail it lists only for the Solution series. Traverse is 2,100 ipm (53.5 m/min) in X, 2,300 ipm (58.5 m/min) in Y and 1,200 ipm (30.5 m/min) in Z, with 95 in/sec² acceleration.
The working head is kept simple. There is one 18 hp (13.2 kW) four-pole, fan-cooled HSK 63F spindle with a programmable speed of up to 24,000 rpm, and a 12-tool changer with aggregate capability. Z travel is 10 in (254 mm), and an optional 17.7 in (450 mm) Z travel is available for thicker work. Options include boring blocks from nine to 25 spindles, a C axis for aggregate tooling, mist coolant and automatic material handling.
