Anderson Stratos Pro XL — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Anderson Stratos Pro XL that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Anderson or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Anderson Stratos Pro XL is the wide-table Stratos. Its table measures 3700 mm (146 in) in X and 2100 mm (83 in) in Y, where the Stratos Pro stops at 1600 mm (63 in), and Anderson aims it at oversized panels and doors. Strokes are 3900 mm (154 in), 2180 mm (86 in) and 350 mm (14 in) in X, Y and Z.

Look at the Y figures together. The table is 2100 mm wide and the Y stroke is 2180 mm, so the gantry clears the table by very little on each side. On the narrower Stratos models the same 2180 mm stroke leaves generous overtravel. Edge work on a full-width panel therefore needs checking against tool diameter and any aggregate that hangs off the spindle.

The wider table comes with lower rapids. X is 80 M/min, Y is 60 M/min and the maximum rapid traverse is 100 M/min. The Stratos Pro, on the narrower table, is listed at 100 M/min in both axes and 141 M/min combined. Z is 30 M/min on both.

There are 2 vacuum zones, half the count of the Pro, which fits a machine meant for a few large pieces at a time more than for nests of small parts. The 18 HP spindle runs to 24000 rpm on HSK 63, with a 10 or 12 position ride-along tool changer and a 5+5 or 10+7 boring block. Control is FANUC 0i. Automatic loading and the offload pusher are listed as not available on the XL, so this is a hand-loaded machine. Reverse air flow, a bar-code reader, a C-axis and the Vector Spindle HSK 63-E are optional.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 2100 mm (83 in) table width, against 1600 mm (63 in) on the Stratos Pro
  • 350 mm (14 in) of Z stroke for door blanks on fixtures or pods
  • 18 HP HSK 63 spindle at up to 24000 rpm with a 10 or 12 position ride-along tool changer
  • Boring block available in 5+5 or 10+7 form
  • C-axis and the Vector Spindle HSK 63-E can be added as options

Limitations

  • Rapids of 80 M/min in X and 60 M/min in Y are below the 100 M/min of the Stratos Pro
  • Automatic loading and the offload pusher are listed as not available on this model
  • Y stroke of 2180 mm (86 in) is only slightly more than the 2100 mm (83 in) table width
  • Only 2 vacuum zones, so small workpieces leave much of the table to mask

Best For

Oversized panels and doors up to 2100 mm (83 in) wide Solid surface and plastic sheet in wide formats Hand-loaded work where a loading line is not planned Large single parts held on 2 vacuum zones

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How wide is the Stratos Pro XL table?

2100 mm (83 in) in Y, with a table length of 3700 mm (146 in) in X. Anderson describes the model as widening the table to 83" in Y for oversized panels and doors. Y stroke is 2180 mm (86 in), so allow for tool diameter when a panel uses the full width.

02 Why is the Stratos Pro XL slower than the Stratos Pro?

Anderson's table does not give a reason; it lists the figures. The Stratos Pro XL rapids at 80 M/min in X and 60 M/min in Y with a maximum of 100 M/min. The Stratos Pro is listed at 100 M/min in each axis and 141 M/min maximum. Z rapid is 30 M/min on both.

03 Can the Stratos Pro XL be fitted with automatic loading?

No, not according to the specification table. Automatic loading and the offload pusher are both marked as not available on the Pro XL, while they are optional on the Stratos Pro and Stratos Pro 24. The bar-code reader, reverse air flow, C-axis and Vector Spindle HSK 63-E remain optional.

04 What spindle and control does the Stratos Pro XL have?

An 18 HP spindle with a maximum speed of 24000 rpm and an HSK 63 clamping system, under a FANUC 0i control. The ride-along tool changer has 10 or 12 positions. Vacuum pumps of 10, 25 or 40 HP are listed for the 2 zone table.
